You make a good point. Getting your foot jammed in a rock and having a wave awkwardly twist it or breaking it is about as rare as what happened to A. Ralston. I have heard of these accidents/situations in the surf.

When we hear so and so's body was found, we never know the details leading up to his death. Anytime you put yourself out there, there is some risk.
