Saw no difference with 40lb floro vs 40lb mono, except harder to tie some knots with floro, and obviously the price. I honestly have less faith in the rig when floro is involved.
But then again I'm weird.

I must be weird as well. Snell with 50lb clear Ande.

I'd rather be fishing!

Is there another knot besides a palomar?

"Snell"? I just use that all-purpose fisherman's knot thingy. Wrap, wrap, wrap, wrap, wrap, wrap, thru the bunny hole, lick, pull. Is that what snelling is?

The worst day fishing is better than the best day working. ...Wait a minute, my work IS fishing. Sweet.

I use the palomar, easiest knot you could ever tie, and holds up really well too. I've never(knock on wood) had a palomar fail on me.

50# and up, mono, for all my eeeeel snelled hooks.
palomar to the hvdty swivel, 36" to 48" for the leader length.
practice, practice, practice.......................
and you'll be tying them with yer eyes closed
Grog's fishing knots index, on-line, is an excellent resource.
