Ya you can try ice on one half and some heat on the ferrel part to see if it loosens.
or you can just ask a guy with hands the size of mine to pull them apart

good luck

maybe a little penetrating oil, wd-40, and wait a day?

Put the ferrul behind your knees and grab the rod on each side and spread your knees apart. gives you more leverage.

I'm not too sure I would put any penetrating oil etc on a graphite blank.

For a heat source I have used a blow dryer or a wet face cloth heated in a microwave then wrapped around the ferrul.

Good luck

Mike,
Be sure you are twisting them apart, just as you would put them together.

Yup... ice. Wrap the ferrule in a bag of ice and let it sit for a while... like 1/2 hour. Usually that's all it takes. I don't like the WD40 idea... but that's me. Or the heat.... Ice.... just ice.

I had one that was stuck (I didn't rinse off after use and the season I stored the rod over the winter) and couldn't separate the parts using the above methods. I finally used PB - a penetrating catalist - on it. I let it set a while and it came apart easily. Just remember to clean the PB off after separating the sections. Two piece rods are a pain.
