I pitty those Maine fools and my brother in law is one of them, from Ellsworth. They have a long *ss winter, late ice out so you can't even fish fresh water until the stripes arrive and even after ice out, you have to wait until the season opens for the target species.

I do love those Maine smallies though and John (brother in law) and I are already planning a couple long weekend camping trips. I only wish they could put the fighting ability of the smallmouth bass into the striper, mixed maybe with the speed of a bluefish or tuna family and then we'd have ourselves a FISH. Pound for pound, the smallmouth bass is damn close to the top of my list.
