Forum set up

Well I for one am very happy to see this forum come to fruition.
I think after all the best, worst, overplayed, blah, blah posts go by, which I do enjoy, I think we need to have a little structure. Not sure all will agree, if we did it would be a first, but some categories maybe.
Like Rock, Jazz, fusion, bluegrass, showtunes, as we can't leave out Surrey With The Fringe On Top. Larry would be devastated. ,, etc., etc.. That way you can go to a genre you like and exchange music and ideas with like minded fisher people. That way no one is raining on your parade and dising your likes and tastes. Kind of like sub categories. Still have a general area where you can put anything music. I think it would be nice to be able to navigate to something quick.
Also a few categories like guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, triangle, cowbell, whatever floats your boat. That way those specific areas can be delved into. I got a few more ideas to run by the boss, not sure they are even possible. I would enjoy hearing what the others interests are and any ideas you all have. This should, will, be an awesome forum I think. Lets hear em. Paul

great post Paul, I agree that it would be nice to keep the negative stuff to a minimum...no one will ever agree as music is such a personal thing...great ideas you have...I vote for you as forum leader & moderator...

Well moderation has never been my strong point but I guess I could give it a try. I think another gentleman voiced he would be interested too. Have no idea what would be involved but if it would allow me to edit some of Lawrence's posts than I guess I 'm game Be gentle. I can't see any problems that would arise. It is all opinion and everyone is entitled to what they like in my book. Even though I can't see why anyone would like, never mind

The mission that this forum provides which is primarily fishing would be diluted when you include more categories.

If that is what you want, go for it.

I do not agree.Fishing is the common thread that runs through us all and I doubt anyone would disagree.I feel the more catagories that we agree we should have gets us all through the winter quicker and hopefully before we know it,it's May!!

I think Nebe oughta be in charge of the Broadway Showtunes section

I dunno, I'm still disturbed over those damned pony pictures of his...

Hey, listen, not that there's anything wrong with that....

I think we have covered a lot of music so far and the majority of it being heavy on the guitar side, and there is nutin wrong with that. Maybe we can stretch out a little and delve into some other types of music and instruments. My only worry is we will burn out and have nutin to say after a month of this. I have no idea how to get different headings put on the forums. Maybe sticky's that will announce Blues, Jazz, Fusion, Bluegrass, Chamber music, 5 gallon bucket drummers, blah,etc... It should be that anyone can post a sticky for something they want to have a running conversation about. That way everyone gets involved and not just the windbags like me get to voice their obviously jaded opinions Also you can go back and get into the subject months later and not have to search all over creation looking for it. I know some subjects will be short lived but others will not. We can discard them as we see fit. We will ask the shy and demur Lawrence for his even keeled input on that subject. I am not sure how to go about this or if it is even impossible to do. Just a thought. Any opinions. I'll look tomorrow, off to work.

IMHO....if you make a bunch of sub-categories you'll end up limiting what people will listen too....

people won't experience Jazz unless they go to the jazz thread....and so on.....

If you keep it simple you will make it so people will check out stuff they normally wouldn't.

Just a thought.....

Kevin you will never believe that one of the other 2 guys I work with at nite plays along to pan music at work with his own home made pan flutes. Still not as bad as the other guy who plays non stop Jimmy Buffet. Thank god i work several hundred feet away and my stereo is bigger and louder than both of theirs. On a positive note he likes Celtic music like me and the buffet fan hates it with a passion so we sometimes stereo him in the middle. Pisses him off big time.

Good point. We can have a general area where you can put your opinion daily on anything you want others to hear but still have specific areas where people who only want to discuss a certain subject can go so you don't have to hear about stuff you don't care for or already know about. I don't know. we need input here. God I sux at typing
