my name is also John,my good friend Gary Corsetti hooked me up with this site. i started fishing in the late 50's at an early age. my father was an avid fisherman. by the time i was born he was strictly a boat fisherman. we fished every where from Sheepshead Bay to Block Island, with Moriches and Fire Island being are primary areas. By the time i was 8 years old my friends called me "Fish" because thats all i did. i worked on the water clamming for quite a few years. got into surf fishing about 5 years ago while on vacation down on the Cape. found my fathers old surf rod at my brothers house, its at least 50 years old, decide to bring it along to try fishing while at the beach with the family. put an old squider on it. the first day using it i had a dozen bass to 20 pounds on sand eels. the next trip down i bought a penn 7500 to put on it and a sand eel rake to catch some fresh bait. even though i still have a boat, i like the surf fishing more
