MSBA Meeting Tonight
My hat goes off to whomever booked that guide for the tuna presentation. That talk was aces man, can't believe how much quality information he gave us in such a short time. He covered it all from boats to baits and everything in between. Specialist and I are selling our striper gear, watch the classified board over the next couple days .

that was a great show!!
this was my very first meeting and i can say im a proud member of msba now i joined last night, the gentleman who gave that presentation was excellent he mixed me all up on styles again, for fishing these tuna his style is light tackle and i geared up useing capt als method 50lb class outfits his strategy last night was to find the pod and fish it with spinning gear throwing lures made it look so easy i like his method but i dont think i could afford the 32 rods he has cause he gets spooled so often the learning curve for his style got to be brutal on the wallet if you dont have a good boat capt to get on them quick when there hooked and chase them down it seems youd get spooled everytime but i quote him [itll be the most exciting 20 seconds of your life!!] i won a few lures in the raffle it was fun i needed that it was a good night out!!

Its agreed then it was a great meeting.
Lots of good info. Maybe this year I have a better chance at a speedster. Now we need to find a source of those jigs, the ones that look like both a bait fish and a squid were shweet...
Mike:
Just how many times did you win the raffle?
My buddy was going to mug you if you won one more time
Hey never bought you your coke, I owe ya one!!!
Guess my chili was not such a hit, CAME IN FOURTH THOUGH !
Opps,,,!!!! there were only four entries.

Glad you came, hopee to see you there more.
As for tournaments, the club runs annual tournys that are for the whole year. Did you see the trophys and plaques up front, those were won but not yet claimed.
They have many categories\
Boat-striper-men
Boat-striper-women
boat-blue men
boat-blue-women
boat-fly-striper-men
boat-fly-striper-women
boat-fly-blue-men
boat-fly-blue-women
repeat all these for the shore fisherpeople, and the juniors division too...
Ends up with quite a few winners.
Then there is the big annual chartiy tournament. Lots of prizes (over 40) blues and bass. Every person enters not by boat. So you can fish either way. Also a junors division. Great grand prize for most combined weight (bass+blue).
I came in 12th in striper last year and my buddy you met last night came in second to last in the bluefish division. He and I both won reels and a bag full of tackle.
You should enter, its for a good charity and its a great time.
We had a lot of laughs over the radio last year between 6-8 boats.
Look for the info coming out soon in the spray, fisherman mag, OTW and at the march show.

the bow wave on the front of those tuna was unbelievable, and the picture that showed the tail splashes, and then the explosion and the fish already 15' away. i saw a blitz outside the merrimack late last summer, was on a party boat so couldnt do anything but watch, they were less than a mile from the mouth.
my mum was getting tired so i had to leave before the raffles, next month. i was supprised she lasted that long.
THANKS MUM!

Not quite ready to pawn the striper stuff yet Bob. I wonder how fast one of those speedsters would spool the 7000BG. They are fishing with 250yds of 40lb right?

Hey Billy,
Just a little reminder. Power Pro Braided line. The 100 pound test line has the diameter of 20 pound mono. With 250 yards of 40 mono I can see getting spooled quick. With the power pro you would have 500 yards of 100 pound with the thickness of 20 lb. mono. I think you would stand a better chance.................FreddyBoomBartz

Isn't braided line very visible? I dunno !!!
These fish have eyes the size of half dollars.
He was using a nylon/fluoro main line with all fluoro leader for
very low visiblilty.
I am definately gearing up properly for them this season.

the guy who gave the seminar said something about the super braid having to low stretch and wont be able to take the punishment of a 100 pound fish moving at 40mph or sumtin. and i think he said it wears out after 1 fish.
