Too Frieken' Cold To Fish Night - 2009 - Wrap Up
Oooooh TFCTFN, what to say? - As JimmyZ would say, it was a BLAST!
The raffle table was nuts with stuff, the food was great, the beverage flowed. Heard a rumor of some ‘Shine but I don’t go there - Ricky apparently did …
First item that happened was we had the raffle for the Fly Vise, Paul Moriarty made this sweet item and I had him pick the raffle ticket - he rummaged around (for a bit) and luckily, picked MY ticket - so again thank you Paul, and THANK YOU PAUL! Little did I know that the vise was the last thing I'd get last night, couldn't be happier though!
We started off with getting the food line going, actually had to run through one set of food to get room for round two to eat. Lots of great chow. We had just enough seats for everyone – another half dozen we might need to play musical chairs…
While things were setting up with the food, Mike Laptew had some great raw footage on John Haberek from years past. He followed up after dinner with some recent footage underwater, off the Rhody beaches and places like Brenton point – nice shots of the baitfish too - thanks again Mike!
Redlite, with 67% of the vote, was S-B Angler of the Year
We had appreciation awards for Mike Laptew and our first “Scholarship” award, some cash for Katie (for school supplies!!! )
Thanks to all that helped setup and run:
The Melodys, The Bomba Brothers and Culinary Staff , MAC, and the chair crew, everyone that stuck around afterward and helped clean, The Ticket Pahhtee, etc
Donations made in no particular order (and I KNOW I am missing some people and I apologize as stuff went up faster than I could make notes – PLEASE post what you put in – thanks!):
MAC – the sweet print on the chart was from made by his dad
Crafty Angler – lots of Prints from Angler’s Art – big hit (thank you sir!)
Backbeach tied a sweet Lami rod for the table
Redlite donated a rod, a Cabo reel, and a ton of goodies from the Striper Cup
Lures from:
Scotty
Guppy Lures – A/K/A The Hess Brothers (and raffle conspiring entourage)
Mike Thomas
Ryan Smith Plugs & Jigs
#^^^^^^^^^^^&
Joe & Point Jude Lures
Teasers and Deer Tails from Fisherwoman & Baitcaster – a/k/a Bill & Jules
Capt Alan had some of his new Got Striper Baits on the table
Darryl
Professor Moriarty
Kevin a/k/a TheDadFisherman
Bernzy (in the mail )
Missing Link’s Jigs
T.Orlando – bunch of stuff
I know I’m missing some so please help me out here
Other stuff:
Black Hull Charters shirts
Some of the items I donated:
$50 Gift card
2 Computer Repairs (yeh, I know – GEEK)
A bunch of plugs (Tattoos, Customs, bombers, jigs, etc…)
1 10’ 1208 wrapped by MikeCC
Bunch of S-B shirts
Other stuff too…
I have no idea what may or may not have happened at the after-party
No surprise – a great night, lots of fun, some first timers their too.
My voice is shot...
THANK YOU!!!

Lets just say that Redlite can school the fishes but he got schooled by a treadmill. Absolute funniest thing I have ever seen! TO has some good pics I am sure if he can get out of bed today. My room didn't have a shade so it was a little rough this morning.

Great time, as usual. Thanks also to Basic Patrick's better half as she pulled and announced ALL those raffle ticket numbers. Always great to see friends and meet new folks. TDF made the ride home easier at that hour. Thanks Kevin. Paul, thank you too.
Thank you to George aka Numbskull, for guiding me through a very thorough teardown of an Abu 6501. Learned a ton, picked up some ideas for DIY tools that make the job easier, and now feel I could open up a conventional, clean, lube, AND get it back together. FWW called it an Abu autopsy and Mac said he had never torn one down so thoroughly himself! Fortunately my reel was pretty clean, so we could complete the job while simultaneously checking all our losing raffle tickets!
