RE:plum island

Derek - The shore fishing @ mouth of Merrimack on PI has started to slow considerably. I noticed that the fish have moved further out in the channel in the last few weeks. There is still some action the last hour or so before low tide to an hour or so after the tide changes. The fish seemed to hit the clams and chunks much better than worms or plastics this past week @ lower tide. I fished a few high tides this past week - and it was extremely slow. If you get there early enough you can get a spot on the sandbar and cast into the rips... Be forwarned - the bluefish are also in and they will definately take your offering.... As for the Refuge - last I heard parking lots #1 and #7 were the only ones open. The boat crowd seemed to be constantly hooking up if they were drifting... the anchored boats seemed to be idle. If you go on the weekend - be prepared to fish elbow to elbow. Good luck!
