Southwest Wind

Seems like its been weeks since we've had any "Summer Wind." People are still catching fish but.... has it hampered your production with regard to any of your "go to" surf spots?

I think we're also in between movements of fish right now. The summer resident fish should be setting up shop in the next couple weeks. New moon on 6/22 should kick things up.
You can unquestionably work around less favorable wind conditions, but the sou'west really sets up a number of my preferred summer spots.

I've been getting plenty of so far this season....the eels in my livewell have turned white they've been in there so long...my kids want to keep them as pets and name each one individually...

Seems like the daytime bite has lingered a little further into June than last year.

C'mon George, the wind would have been a perfectly good excuse. It's working for me...

Although I find the wind ver important the sheer number of barometric up and down seems to be messing with some spots I fish. When one weather pattern is established it can be figured out, but the last week or so it's bee a nightmare...prior to then it was very good!!!!

these East and Ne winds have put a damper on my tin boat activity in the Bay recently. Up until last week it didn't matter because I was in sheltered areas but I've wanted to go out further lately and it has just been too rough.

I'm no rock hopper but my shore fishing spots have been very good to me this year and fishing Buzzards Bay ( boat) no SW wind has been wicked pissa , I know the E NE wind in CC bay kicks it up a bit.
Even the cooler H2O in BB Bay might keep the bite going for me at least.

You want fun? You should have been with me yesterday in a NE wind at 20 to 25 kt on Narr. Bay trying to liveline pogies on an East facing shore.

Absolutely frigging crazy. Drive the boat with one hand and hold the rod in the other. You get a chase and you let go of the wheel for 5 seconds and you were IN the rocks. 3 ft rollers all morning.

I would KILL for a SW wind. I am so tired of running in a NE and SE wind. Had gloves, insulated bibs and a knitted cap on yesterday. WTF June 16? This is the worst May and June I can remember for weather. It has been decent for fish especially this last week.

What? You have a wind gauge on your boat?
You are probably right but it was really snotty fishing in the slop

Yes, because most of the spots I fish are good on a SW wind. However, one of my good NE spots has been very, very good since mid-May. Steve

The reality is this weather trend may remain in place for quite a while and summer may not arrive until August, at least from a wind standpoint.

No, I checked the real-time data in the morning before I left to make sure it was work-able for our survey... 12-14kt at Conimicut and Newport...

Well, then I don't believe that is totally accurate for where I was. I have also looked at the data from that site and hit the water an hour later and found the wind screaming.
