The US probably has the best balance of foreign aid in the world. It does give the most - far more than anyone else, but it doesn't absorb as high a percentage of the GDP that many other countries do. Now, I'm not against rethinking some of this foreign aid but isolationism will be nice short term for a couple years but will certainly screw us up long term...
