Sorry to hear NF. That poor family will never get over it.

What could be so important that you need to text somebody
while your driving ??????
We had a State car cell phone law passed about
a year ago, and i see very little difference in the number of people
i still see driving while phoning.
The penalty should be the same as DUI.

Driver was high school senior from next town. Obviously devastating for him and his family. Cooperating fully, stayed at scene, may have made the 911 call. Feel badly for the kid.

Stories going around...not confirmed...

1.Driver was 'distracted', according to chief of police. Possibly was texting.

2.Victim was in crosswalk, dropped phone, went back and was bent over when struck.

What I do know from a doctor who was on the scene, was that Allie was gone, never knew what hit her, had no brain activity when she was loaded into the ambulance. She was kept 'alive' long enough for her mother to get back in town.

Wake this evening, funeral tomorrow. I will see the parents after. Better for me as opposed to with the masses that will be there today and tomorrow. Streets already posted to be closed around church. Town is a wreck.

Police chief's advice; "When your kid gets behind the wheel of a car, have them throw their cell phone in the back seat....."

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms.” – James Madison.

That is when the parents and family will need you the most.
My experience is people don't want to bother people when they're
mourning days and weeks after the services, but that is when they need their friends the most.

It's heartbreaking for sure Ross

2 families will forever be changed and the kid will have to live with it the rest of his life.
Maybe we've reached the point where technology has gotten way past human capabilities making it unsafe in so many situations. Good move, toss the cell in the back seat, there's enough other distractions that need your attention while driving, accidents happen unfortunately.

T&P's to the family and friends affected by this loss.

I got the youtube link below in an email today, it reminded me of of this thread. If you've kids that can drive, it may be worth watching.

I'm sorry to hear of your daughter's loss,& I don't know if she knows of how many people here have sent their best but I send my deepest regards to her & to her friends who knew of her.

On a semi smiler note

I was driving through an intersection and a young girl ran a red light and slammed my rear/mid section, after the hit I collected my self and realize everything is cool and immediately got out to check to make sure the other drivers/who hit me was OK.I walk up to the car and to my surprise I see the driver on the phone, and I hear her say I got to go I just hit somebody.......Are you kidding me?Still on the phone after the accident WTF!She was completely clueless,I couldn't believe it.
Anyway we pass papers and 2 days later I get a call from her farther asking me why am I putting in a claim against his daughter's Ins co.,so I told him Dude, she ran a red light while on the stupid phone and she frigging hit me what seems to be the problem?!?!?
