First Burn
Lit the wood stove today it's going to be a long winter....
Got the crockpot going too.... 
If anyone has a good wood source on the South Shore please let me know....I only need a cord. |

I used mine last night for the first time. I switched to the bio bricks last year and like them. They're more expensive than wood, but they burn really hot and are much cleaner.

I've resisted firing up the stove, gets the house too hot even with a small fire in the early season. If however I saw snow flakes today then that is a different story......

I bought cut/split/semi-seasoned in June from Enos Landscaping in Bridgewater. Your trouble will be you only want a cord, so delivery charges will be expensive. They'll probably hit you for over $300????
For next year, start contacting local tree service companies, a lot of the time they'll give you the wood when cutting down trees in the area. I lucked out and have over 15 cords of free wood sitting in the yard using this method. They delivered 6-10ft lengths and I sawed to 16-18inches but still needs splitting. I've got 3+ cords seasoned ready to burn so far. |

I also burned the bio-bricks last year...they are very clean..I have some left over and might get more...verdict not quite out on those yet for me...
did you notice if your chimney stayed cleaner using those? I havent looked yet.

Chimney definitely stayed cleaner with them. The only problem is that I do go through a lot when it's cold on the weekends and we're home all day. This year I'm going to track how much I spent on the bricks. I also supplement with wood, but I don't buy it in bulk. I buy my wood from a guy down the street. |

You'll have to let me know if you get a good quote. The guy who was supposed to do my clearing in the spring flaked out. I need about 40 big trees removed. |

Just cleaned the pellet and wood stove chimneys and started the wood stove up. Too early, but too cold. Slave labor will get you wood cheap, my method, but late for this year. I need to locate some pellets soon.

What kind of wood you got Jimmy? You mean the guy doing the work doesn't want the wood for himself and thus maybe giving you a cheaper quote?

geez
i'm pushing wheel barrows of oak right up two ramps and into the house every day now for a month
snowed like mad here the last two days
been so cold i caught a friggan cold from getting in and out of the ole jacuzzi
for the sore back from hauling lots of wood home
have two deliveries scheduled as well...
it's wicked cold up here
28 degrees yesterday  and it aint even Halloween |

Just got back
from Southbridge
a Cop had a tree dropped in spring
already cut up for me
just had to load the wood wagon and boogie
back to the woodlot in the upper barn
it's time for spagetti 
several more loads to go
it doesn't get easier that that  |

mooched wood, cut, split stacked, inside stash full..
will get up on the roof sunday and clean chimney...
my house is small, and tight.. has to get real cold before first fire...
otherwise the windows have to get open and end up sitting around in skivvies...
took pics with cell camera...

nice pics for a phone Karl. Been colder in my neck,at least last weekend. It was either the wood stove or the furnace that weekend. Not exactly balmy out today, that wind was frigid this morning. Still haven't fired up the pellet yet. I still need to buy pellets.
