Thanks again guys.
He had another operation this morning and they took some more of the left leg. Apparently they need to cut it back so they had enough skin to wrap and make a cap over the stump. Really horrible stuff to hear about but we are all men.
He came out of it well and they will operate again on Friday morning to see if they can save the left arm. Right now they have his arm wrapped up like a mummy.
I want you guys to know how much I appreciate the thoughts and prayers. I am sure that you prayers are keeping Butch alive and helping him survive this ordeal.

Man, that sucks.
Bikers seem to be gettin whacked like crazy lately. About a month ago watched a guy die in Kingston center after a lady cut him off and he t-boned her. The other night comin back from fishin down the canal way there was a guy laying in the middle of the road where 25 and 195 meet after dumpin his bike. Another guy died the other day down in Cranston.
I got hit a few years ago and was lucky. Still ride though.
Hope he survives and is able to live some type of adjusted lifestyle with his family.

Man that's freaking terrible. Too many bad drivers and not enough open road around here for motorcycles.

I am very sorry to hear of this unfortunate situation. I will keep him, as well as you and the family lifted up in prayer, at this time.
God bless you all!

Paul. I will keep Butch in my prayers.
Me and the rest of my siblings (two brothers and one sister) all ride. My closest brother just went through this same thing just five years ago. A young woman texting cut him off. He also lost a leg in that accident.
What sucks is all the time that he spent in Iraq (the first time around), he never got barley a scratch. Then he gets it from home and worst of all, because someone is texting on their cell phone putting others lives in peril.
I wish a speedy recovery for Butch and his family.

I lost a good friend 3 years ago on a bike. People need to pay way more attention to bikes when driving. T's and P's.

OK, just got off the phone with my brother. The Docs have saved Butch's arm. Lost a couple of fingers but the arm will be ok. He had 7 hours of surgery on the arm.
I would truly like to thank my extended family (SB.Com) for staying with me through this ordeal. You guys (and gals) are the absolute best bunch of people I have ever had the honor of calling my friends.

Thanks John and thanks to everyone.
This will be the last post unless something happens that is significant.
One thing I should tell you guys is the girl that hit Butch had no auto insurance and is an apartment dweller. I always thought that you could not register a car unless you had liability insurance. Basically I guess she is destitute so Butch will not be getting any kind of windfall insurance settlement.
The bike community is getting together and doing a run and the family is pitching in. Thank God he has medical coverage because they are already over $150K in hospital bills.

How could she be destitute and have a Ford Excursion?
It would be akin to having a Mercedes and claiming poverty.
She should be help legally and financially responsible for ALL costs, regardless of how long it takes.
It's just insane!
I hope for the quickest and fullest recovery for your brother.
I have always been impressed with the power of the human spirit, being able to overcome adversity. We're all pulling for him!

Latest on Butch is that he is still in the hospital and they continue to take small pieces of his left leg. He has a significant infection. Poor guy is fighting a good fight.

Yes, his medical insurance is picking up most of the hospital stuff. He has uninsured motorist coverage (I think about $30K) so his wife has been getting some money from that. I was suprised to hear that there is no long term disability in Mass (he works in Franklin). I believe he will be entitled to SSI disability.

I'm still angry about this and want something done to prevent someone else going through this terrible ordeal. I am happy he will pull through but still sad for the effect it will have on him and his family. My thoughts are with him and his family.
To many people don't think about the impact they have on others and just go about their business without a thought about anyone else. For better or worse we all have impact on someone else's life so try and make sure the impact you have is for the better. The world would be a lonely boring place if it weren't for others. Also this event helps me to remmeber no matter how bad things seem for me there is someone else who has it worse.
