I'm a Red Sox fan, but if or when the Sox are out and the Yankees are in i'll root for them.

The Steelers have 6 NFL titles--all Super Bowl titles--not 5

Also, in addition to the 5 WS titles as the Philadelphia Athletics, the franchise has 4 more as the Oakland Athletics.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something.

It has nothing to do with their Winning history....Its because they own one of the Biggest Media Outlets (YES Network) in one of the Biggest Sports Markets (think Merchendising) in the Country.

Plenty of great talent comes out of all the Cities in the country, but the problem is that the markets are so small they can't possibly generate the revenue to compete financially with the Yank-mees. They can afford to keep maybe 1 or 2 high level athletes but thats it....come free-agency no matter what they offer it can get trumped by the yanks...who don't bat an eye at an extra 10 mil.

Teams in other big sports markets can keep up to some degree(i.e. the Sox, Phillies) but even their total salaries were 65-75 million less than the Yanks.

Its now become where the bottom 10-12 teams are now pretty much the farm system for the higher tier teams and the yanks are at the top of the food chain and have money to burn.

Steinbrenner and Boras have ruined baseball

I don't agree with you ! If what your saying is true how come the Dodgers don't win ??? They are in a major market and their owner has plenty of $$$
Like him or hate him, George Steinbrenner has been a better business man that most of the other owners and he puts his $ back into his team
(unlike our Bruins owner)

Thats what I said.....You said it was because of their Rich Winning History and i said it was because they had money to burn.

The Dodgers do put as good of a product as possible on the field and spend a sizeable chunk of change of change, they had the 6th highest payroll in 2009.

As seen by the Yanks the last few years, high payroll doesn't always equate into a championship, sometimes you gotta have heart but the law of averages does take effect when you keep scooping up the biggest free agents around......last year they grabbed THE 2 biggest and then dished out another 80 Million for Burnett.....they spent HALF A BILLION dollars on those 3 guys.....that has nothing to do with "Rich Yankee History"

And if it wasn't about money then why don't you see players taking less than other teams offer to play for them just to be a part of this Rich Winning History

* 16 wins: NBA - Boston Celtics (19 total appearances)

Actually I Prefer to look at the list like this

Boston Celtics - 17 Championships out of 63 Total or 26.9% of all the Championships

Montreal Canadiens - 22 Stanley Cups (Modern Day NHL) out of 83 Total or 26.5% of all the Cups

New York Yank-mees - 27 World Series out of 105 Total or 25.7% of all the the World Series

Which puts them in 3rd all time......

.....Or you can look at it like this too

Boston Celtics won 17 of 20 for 85% of the Championships they appeared in

The Canadiens won 22 of 29 for 75.8% of the Cup Finals they appeared in (Modern Day NHL)

Yank-mees won 27 of 40 for 67.5% of the World Series they appeared in

So....Again....3rd Place
