From what I've seen, the basic Weber is still a good grill and less than 5 bills. Keep it covered and it should last a while. Many grills fail early as they're just not made to take the heat they can produce. Cooking at full blast will really fatigue non-stainless or bronze parts, and even stainless will suffer from too much heat.

Vermont Castings used to make a nice grill but I'm not sure if Home Depot ruined the company or not.

I've got a sweet all Stainless made by Lynx (when they made for Kitchenaid) that's going 6+ years strong. The piezoelectric starters have died but other than that it's working as new. It also has a lifetime warrantee on all stainless parts, so I'm assuming this will last a while. Wouldn't have bought it but I happened upon a rare deal to good to pass up.

The point being, not all of them rot out, but there's a cost to performance.

All things considered, if price is a big factor be prepared to replace it faster.
