Wish I could be there guys. Enjoy the opportunity. If you catch a great fish that's the icing onthe cake. Grab an ice cream, go to the weigh in and head out to the shore for a good night of bass fishing. Tight lines!

If it was the big red place on Laurel Ave, then it's the place Patrick describes. I stay there every year with the old men along with my brother and a buddy of ours. This was the first year we had a group albie skunking in the 12+ we've been targeting them (shore only). Most of the albies weighed in this year are from boat. Hopefully this weather change over the next 24 hours turns things on for the shore guys.

We are seeing albies in a few spots but they are well offshore an out of reach...there are also many podes of rat blues that some are mistaking for albies
I'd bet big money those big albies are coming from across the pond along the Falmouth, Cotuit or Craigville shorelines. Out on teh edge of the boundaries but in bounds.

this has been my toughest derby in 6 years... I usually hit a slam from the boat and 3 of 4 from shore.
this is the first year I have failed to hang a fish since 1975... and to make matters worse all the XL shirts, sweatshirts were sold out the first week!

Ron told me he is having the worst Derby he ever had, along with several others too. I came home late yesterday as the wind was so strong it made fishing really hard on Sunday thru yesterday and I did not even see a fish caught. Good luck to you guys still there.

Paul, did you go back over to Peter's? I told you that thing was the ticket for albies when I was there. What are you going to name it?

Peter had a friend come back to day. He's all by his self now. I thought about going back over but got stuff to do and also wanted to try for some albies in my tin boat if the wind ever lets me get out. He still has yet to see a fish caught by anyone. He has Larry syndrome
We ran into Frank and his bro out at the gut one day last week. Good for him.
I never really gave it much thought Ross as to a name. Maybe I'll call it the Pray.. PIA would be a better name as that is what they are to make.

I was right next to these guys. There were some big blues out there today. When I got out there and dropped over a fresh bunker, it lasted all of two seconds and my rod was doubled over only to have my 60# wire leader bit off. I think we could see an 18 before the derby is out.
The biggest blue I landed was 12.04 and it did not even make the board.
I think I am done with the boat fishing in this derby. It's becoming too much like work and I am not having fun at it. I spent a full day finding fresh bunker and even then bass just played with them beating them up and would not eat the damn things. I'm done.
Will try a few more nights for (shore) bass and maybe a morning for albies (just cause I like them) but for the most part this is it for me. Crappy derby this year for me. It was just not my time.
One thing I have noticed as I have gotten older, my drive to fish hard has dropped off. When I was younger I Would fish 24/7, and did whatever it took to hook up. Now, it's a different story, I still like to fish but I am not driven to fish. (My wife and kids would disagree with me) but I just don't have it anymore.

If the fishing were better, you would have more energy.Suck fishing takes more out of you both physically and between the ears.

I headed over to the derby this year with great anticipation - new moon, plenty of bait, there was NO WAY the fishing could be as bad as last year. Unfortunately, I was right. IT WAS WORSE!!! Fished hard 6 nights, eels and everything else, walked miles to find clean water and managed a total of 1 bass for the week, and that was while fishing for Albies! Our group managed 4 bass for the week, and fortunately, one of them was a big girl(only a few days left Paul. Was that you I heard praying for a nor'easter?). Always a great time on MV, but as SeaDangles said, my will to fish was zapped. The last night we spent on Wasque, planned on throwing eels all night but never even made it out of the truck. I did manage a couple albies as did most of the crew, and a couple dozen squid but without Gilly around to stew them, even that was little consolation.
Next year?!?!
