Wading boots for waders-recomendations

I have owned a bunch of different ones over the years, but find that the brand I use at the ditch do not hold up well. Any ideas from any of youse trolls. Felt bottom preferably.

For the ditch I'd use the studded aquastealth from llbeans. I know it's not felt.

Agreed... These are mine with the wearbars... I will never use korkers again...

Just checked Cabela's online catalog...found the ultr light II boots...studs look nothing like those pictured here. I like those pictured a lot better. Where did you find those studs?? More like the Korker Convertables that I do have but they're starting to show their age

Do you wear them over your waders, or on their own over regular L.L. Bean socks? They look interesting because of the weight and they look to be less cumbersome for peddaling a canal bike. I'm curious about sizing them to fit over a stockingfoot wader.

I have the LL Bean gortex foot stocking foot wading pants not sure if they still make them. I don't have a neoprene foot wader to try. I also wear these wet fishing. and basically anything around the water.

These spikes are the MUCH better than the cleats that come with the Ultra Light boots.. Very easy to insert and replace.

I use Simms Rivershed wading boots- Really like them. They have holes in them as well that fit the wearbars.

If you buy the cabelas ultralight 2 boots, as soon as you get home, open the box, find the bag with the screw in cleats they provide, walk to the trash, and put them in. Order 1/2" wearbars (50pk) My suggestion is getting some stainless washers as well to prevent the wearbars from "leaning"

Those NRS wet-boots look like they might be great for wetsuiting... seems like the neoprene sock is built in, so no need for separate ones... If the rubber sole is thick enough to accept the .5" wearbars, I can see these in my future. Anyone try them???

I love my wearbars, I can stand on rocks covered with bubbleweed and they bite right thru. If you have ever worn Korkers, you will feel like a kid with an new pair of PF Flyers.
They do tend to fold over for me, partially my boots and partially the fact that I probably weigh almost as much as Ivan and DZ combined.
For the canal standing on not bad rocks on the edge, pedaling a bike and walking on flat pavement the rubber soles with integral carbide studs will work pretty well. Better than plain felt in grip and wear.

yep the best i've used- WITH wearbars. you stick to rocks and weed.

On a side note the Simms carbide studs are garbage- after a month of use I was skimming around the NS rocks like I was on ice skates

Will be getting two packs of the bars in a couple months to get ready for the spring.

I don't think they would, the sole is not that thick , I wear them all time trout fishing and wet wading the salt or getting the boat in and out in the fall and spring

it looks the the sole is thin, but the rubber lugs look like they would be thick enough... There should be a thread devoted strictly to wearbar FAQ, how to's, tips, suggestions... "Friends dont let friends wear heavy k-5000's"

OK let me get this straight...The studs that come with the Cabela's Ultralite II are junk. The wearbar studs can be sustituted for the Cabela's studs? Do the Cabela's boots have threaded stud holes like the Korker products, or are the wearbar studs just screwed into the "rubber" holes that are in the felt? That's enough to hold them in place? No tear outs? Sorry for all the questions...am getting ready to replace my Korker Convertables...I like my felt Ultra Lites but these are pre-studded Ultra lites and the pictured studs in the catalog don't look like they will do the trick on bubble weed or any salt vegetation for that matter. Korker studs always worked just fine.

Dr Fish, you will feel ten years younger with the Wearbars, really. I cannot stress enough how sweet these are when compared to Korker sandals (not comparing to Korker boots for which I have no experience with).

Yes, the Cabelas boots have small holes that their studs (suck) would use and the thicker wearbars go right in. Use a ratchet to put them in and get some washers - one per wearbar - to help the wearbar stay a little straighter.

I wore mine probably 75 time last year and lost two.

Did you have washers attached to those two lost wearbars ?
Where they attached to the felt or rubber pad?
Did you use anything like epoxy to replaced the lost studs since I would assume the footing is damaged on the sole?
