It all starts with rudiments when you 1st start to learn to play.
Thats how I started when I was 6, till I was 21.
Didn't really get into the set till I was in my late teens.
Gadd is the classic example of a rudimental style drummer.
His drumming in Steely Dans Aja is all rudiments
