Compared to other years, fishing on my long rod has been slow. (Fishing south side of Cape) but lets face it - it has been a lousy cold spring and lots of activity has been delayed. So the other day I took out my surf rod so I could reach some Blues for dinner - I never would have reached them with my fly rod because of both distance and weeds.

As far as your question on two fish is concerned, I think it is about time. Personally, I think there are too many fish for the amount of available forage, hence, the majority of fish we get today are skinny as compared to the healthy fat ones we used to catch up to 10 years ago. I know a lot of people want to see bigger trophy fish for the recreational sector but there is really only one fair way to do it under the present system. First, address the forage issue and lower the size limit say from 28" to 20" - they are a lot better eating anyway and your not taking fish that are breeders. Second, reduce the size limit for the commercials from 34" and up to something like between 26" - 32" Fish over that size could be recreational only. By doing this it would target non breeding fish and also reduce the pressure on forage fish. Otherwise, it is possible that as the present striper population grows it can get stressed because of lack of food and the population could face a crash in its population.
