My neighbor said the same thing. But the owners manual says that if water dosen't flow right away to shut it down to avoid damage. I tried to look up a thermostat and couldn't find anything, I might be labeled as technically impaired! I only let it run about 5-6 seconds.

thermostats stick on occasion... we used to give em a healthy bump
with wood (not metal) to un stick them

Check the pee stream for an obstruction by putting a piece of heavy fishing line or weed wacker string up thru the port and see if there is a piece of dirt or crap just obstucting the pee stream.
