Some will argue I'm old fashioned, but try MONO. I still think it is easier to use, much more abrasion resistant, especially if you fish in boulder fields.

I use both, but I have much less problems with mono.

Big reels 65# samurai.
Middle reels 50# samurai.
Small reels 30 # samurai.

Anything smaller is like trying to deal with smoke.

May fortune favor the foolish....

You are right on point with the mono. The only problem with mono is it floats. If you are fishing deep water with a lot of current (read Canal) you will not get down to the fish. 2 years ago I fished right next to 2 guys from this Board and they caught fish after fish with braid. I was using the same lures but had mono instead. I NEVER touched a fish that day.

No boat, back in the suds.

Samurai

On my Diawa Saltiga Z and my two Van Staal's 250's I switched to Samurai 55 lb.

No problems at all.

Suffix is my choice on conventional bass reels. Always had PP on surf gear, VS200. I have had a bad batch of PP before... Replaced off a different spool and no problems. I will not use PP in anything less than 50# though... Tried 30# and had windknots galore.
