iPhone fyi

The "maps" on iPhone is bathymetric.
If you have signal (meaning AT&T) you have real time handheld bathymetric chartplotter and I bet u didn't even know

For those that don't have the iPhone, if you download the Navionics app you will also have bathy maps and you don't need any phone service. Since the maps are loaded on your device all you need is to be able to access the GPS network.

I'm moving from a BB to the iPhone 5 in Oct when they come out. Company is switching from AT&T to Verizon and gave the option of moving to iPhone. AT&T service is great out on the boat, will I lose any signal with Verizon?

I can't hear you, now!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

With verizon you might as well leave it in the car at the dock, because that's about as far as it will work

I've been kicking tires on the navionic app for a year. I didn't need it since I have a Raymarine. Out on a friends boat this weekend in heavy fog in Maine and his GPS sh1t the bed.

We were able to use Google maps on Android without bathy. Wishing I had the Navionics app (until my battery died).

it was 9.99 when I bought it last year. well worth it.
it eats up the battery in track mode unless you have a charging plug handy.

The driving dirrections "maps", on every Iphone, has the google maps built in.

I've been searching for good marine radar AP.

I have one but its not very detailed.
It does show live radar weather but does not zoom in very close.

Know of any good ones?
