limited ram because you may have thought you where getting a " deal " windows 7 = min 6 GB or ram as far as i am concerned i would run nothing less then 8Gb
also down load a free tool call PC decrapfier, you can get it at softpedia or major geeks it will take out the bloatware dell loves to load up in it.

My desktop runs Win7(64) insane on 3GB.If you need more than 3GB you're machine has a problem.

i disagree, if you are running out of the box security software with multiple profiles 4 Gb will get destroyed.

Out of the box security.Oopsy.
2gb will run Winbloze7 with all the opensource security you could possibly imagine and the free crap will beat anything you paid for.

You are incorrect sir, on multiple levels
It should run decent but not insane (my computer is pretty close to insane @ i5 2500K, 16GBRAM). There are other factors such as integrated video, disk speeds, bloatware, and just about anything norton or new and improved to crap it out.

I think we have significant differences of opinion on what "insane" means. I'm not trying to knock you down or insult you under any manner. I know that even a quick machine with W7 and 3gb or memory will be good and I know some will be crappy. I also know that with 64bit and 16GB of ram - I scream - and thats with only a 5770 vidcard

Look i am not trying to messure e peens here how ever john hit it on the head once again, perception of running insane is in the eye of the beholder however, the " deal " machines are just that old in many cases the only savior is to upgrade ram and lean it out do to hardware restrictions.
Sorry if i offended you but facts are specs are specs

Buy a Mac LOL, I have a dual core 2ghz with 2GB ram 2 21 inch monitiors, and have Photoshop with 12 files open, Illustrator with 10 files open, Indesign with 6 files open, Acrobat pro with 22 files open, Dreamweaver with 6 files open, Filezilla, Chrome with 6 tabs, Xerox command workstation all running with no problems perfectly speedily.
Windows sucks, Bloated Lazy Programmers.
