Cool back from daytona! races and fishing

what a great time my 13 yr.old son and i had. our first father son trip away alone! i've been there maybe 15 times between bike week and the 500 but with camps and school my son couldn't make it. finally after convincing the ex we made it. 4 days of boogie boarding 6-8'waves beat the hell out of me,but what fun!! lot's of scenery to rejuvenate the old man. spent the last 3 days at the calm waters of the pool.the pepsi400 night race is an awsome experience even for non race fans.now for the best part. took a half day trip on the critter2 party boat out of Ponce Inlet. stemed out about 10 miles off new smyrna. lines in using squid and one red snapper 2lbs. caught by some one else, more on this later. other than the one fish nothing line up and move to another spot.the stern is pulling in 10-15# amberjacks. schools all around us.they had some 6" herring so i go and get a handful and rig my son up, he drops in and stops about 30'deep. DAD,i got one! the fish has him running around the boat over and under the other lines good fighting fish.finally the mate gaffs em and brings him up 16 lb amberjack for a good half hour schools were moving in and out.throwing squid for chum and using herring.i got one and lost it,never had another hit.ambers up to 25# landed.back at the dock they announce the winner of the $5 pool guess who wins? the guy who caught the 2# snapper $220 !! can't figure that one out! gave some fillets to our neighbor in fla. and packed my soft cooler w/freeze packs and fish and carried it on the flight. by 9 p.m. lat night my son and i were chowing down on fresh amberjack hot off the grill.that's some great tasting fish somewhat like swordfish. lot's of great memories put in the caverns of my head !! i've been waiting a long time for a father son trip like this, man i'm getting tearyeye'd writing this, other than being there when my son was born this had to be the best time of my life!

digger, that,s the best !!! i had the best time, 47 yrs. old boogie boarding 6 to 10 footers there was a storm front moving up from louisiana to DAYTONA bch. 6-10' like getting run over by a mack truck w/trailer.ya all talk about getting washed off the breakway try doing it for fun. stand chest deep and wait for the biggin to come. i'm 5,'11 and these waves were at least 3'to 5'over my head!!! i'm a boogie board fanatic now. give me some fins and i'm on my way! do they have a senior division for boogie boarding, cause i'm hooked at age 47.
