Regular Quaker Oats have a better texture than the quick oats, and have an even thicker texture if you use milk or some milk substitute like soy milk to boil them in instead of water. Bring them to a boil in the milk till they are about to bubble over then turn heat down to a simmer for another 4-5 minutes. It may be important to stir while bringing to a boil or the milk might stick at bottom and burn. And stir, for same reason, a few times till done.
