Eels at $2,000 per pound?

I thought I was misreading this when I first saw it. But I guess a shortage of eels in Europe and Asia has made the price skyrocket. I guess I won't be slinging any eels this year!

Eel market sizzles as prices hit $2k/lb | CapeCodOnline.com

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

I think I may have to look into trapping them myself,in the long run it'll be cheaper.

Live bait sharp hooks and timing is all you need

There is about 2000 elvers in a #...about a buck a piece. That is what you are paying for them now.

The elvers are tiny, not the size they sell for bait. I buy eels by the pound during the season, usually 5 to 10 pounds at a time. I couldn't afford $10,000 TO $20,000 to fill my eel tank if the big eels sold for that much.
