Top water.
My go to plug all year from boat, but especially spring, is the Howdy, in my fav colors. Luv that plug. Thanks Bernzy. I put glass rattles in these this year. My spooks which also have glass rattles and 2 gibbs small pencils. My canal super size howdies. 9 inches. Glass rattles too. You can see a reg. size howdy for comparison. Got high hopes for these big guys in canal this year when macks come in. Need to fish them with rod tip low though so you will need to be on a rock above the water which shouldn't be a problem in canal.
