Took some friends squid fishing sat night. The new guys were struggling a bit to get the feel. I let one of then use my rod rigged with my favorite jig and naturally, within a few minutes it was hung up and gone. Oh well.

Last night, PRBuzz and I head out to the same spot. We were fishing about 20 yds further down the dock, catching nothing amid 30 other fishermen. Phil looks down and sees a piece of mono on the dock and its attached to a squid jig, just sitting there on the dock. MY SQUID JIG!!(I was using a particular mini snap and the jig was missing one eye). How in the world it got there and nobody snatched it up I will never know. Thank you Karma(and Phil).

This incident got us talking about a trip to the canal several years ago. It was one of those dark damp still nights that just felt right. I had one eelskin jig left and had a feeling it was going to be the ticket. First cast, backlash about 50 yds into the cast and snap off the 'skin! &%^((%^!!! I retie, new leader, new bucktail, first cast and I catch the eelskin jig?!?!?! Naturally, the fish Gods have something in store for me so I put the skin back on, cast(No, no backlash this time), bump, bum, bump...ON!!! The fish starts tearing line on the meatstick. Just as I have her stopped and start to turn, the hook pops! Get it in to find the hook straightened like an L, never had that happen before or since. I don't blame anyone for not believing that story, sometimes I question myself, but its my story and I sticking to it.
