CT Sea Tow Striper Shootout

Hi, This is my first time on your forum. On 6/17 there was a post about a striped bass that was disqualified from the Sea Tow Striper Shootout. I was the weigh master at that tournament. The only fish that were out of contention were either to long or to short for the slot limit. The rumor is that Striped Bass World Record Holder Greg Myerson weighed a fish that was disqualified. Greg Myerson's only fish was just over 36" and the weight was approx: 17.6lbs. It was inside the slot but not heavy enough to place.
Just wanted to set the record striaght. Thank you, Peter Palmieri,
Owner of Tidewater Bait & Tackle, Westbrook, CT.

Peter, That was not the fish in question. I spoke with several people including those that won the tourney... I understand it was a per man tournament? One of the 4 guys, (Meyerson included) that were on the boat with meyerson bought in a fish, caught on meyersons boat, that had the tail cut from 40 3/4" into a fork to meet the 40" slot. I was told that the fish would not be accepted because the tail was OBVIOUSLY cut and many at the scale pointed it out. I understand you had to accept the 17lber because it really didnt make a difference anyway and that fish was way under the 40". I know Words were exchanged, including meyerson accusing the leaders that he had never seen a 40 " fish that wieghed 34lbs??? You will deny that the tail of that 28lber bought in on meyersons boat was not cut? You did not say the tail was cut???? So Paul Parzych, Eddy Richkowski, Paul Rescigno, Ben Cadlee are all lying?? John Stavola the other wieghmaster does not agree with yo? He clearly told Ben that fishs tail was cut and he was not accepting it. Some people just want the truth is all...I understand you have a business, carry meyersons rattlesinkers, hats, and dont want to ruffle any feathers so you take the easy way out...the dozens of people there were hallucinating?

Sincerely,

Ken Zwirko

Ken, I don't know you and I'm am not calling anybody a lier. The guys you mentioned most of them know me and can tell you that I don't mind ruffling feathers. That said, their was a fish with a questionable tail, but it was not weighed in by Greg. The statement that it was Gregs fish was all I was responding to. Everybody I talk to had a great time and would fish the shootout again. Everybody had fun and congrats to Paul P, and Pauli.
Thank you Peter Palmieri

So here comes Kenny and his everlasting hardon for all things Greg Myerson.I had been told about this latest witch hunt but had not seen anything in print.Earth to cowhunter;let it go or confront him personally if you care enough or dare enough.I know somebody who called you last year after another of your online smear attempts and he said you were in full retreat.I understand your frustration with the IGFA but it's over. Didn't you promise to go away if you were proven wrong?Go out and break the record Ken,it could fall again this year.Leadbelly and the right weighmaster are all you need.

I would love to see some pictures. Who caught the fish and whose boat were they on then?

Seems like the reason you guys fish is completely different than why I fish. I actually have fun and these guys that constantly fight and complain about this and that and everything is a contest seem like you are always miserable and don't enjoy fishing at all. Why do you even bother.
