Duval Patrick: what a governor!
Let's see....He won't OK the Melissa Bill because it's not lenient enough for repeat violent offenders, yet he WILL be voting today on the new casino bill?
Between him and House Speaker Deleo (delaying the vote for police officer's wife's death benefits) I don't know who is more inept or possibly corrupt?
When I read stories like these, I am ever so glad that I didn't vote for these a-holes, and feel sorry for anyone that did.

A good % of his supporters absolutely are brain dead.
True story.
One of my friends who owns an auto body shop in Dorchester, which is as I'm told, has 1/3 of it's population on welfare, EBT, or some other state & government handout.
He goes into a convenient store and is waiting to pay and there is this big fat woman paying for her stuff with her EBT card. He kind of laughs and gives her a look like she's a piece of #^&#^&#^&#^&.
She says to him.
"Me being on welfare is the reason you have a #^&#^&#^&#^&ing job"
Thats the mentality of his supporters !
I saw this thousands of times growing up as my grandfathers repair shop was in Dorchester right around the corner to a welfare office.
The friggin place was a zoo every 1st of the month.

Nobody likes a freeloader, except the Government.
I “might” not mind paying taxes as much if it was all going to a worthy cause. The reality is that a lot of our tax money is going to unworthy causes and unworthy people. It really makes me sick to my stomach when I look at what the government takes from me and wastes away without a care.
Those people you mention Ronnie have no conscious. They are leeches and parasites. They aren’t held accountable for anything for anything by anyone.
It’s pretty simple, they can make a decision to bust their hump and work hard (might not be glamorous work), or they can sit back, be content (maybe not happy) and live in a welfare environment with subsidies out the ass expecting others to pay for their lack of ambition. They choose to “exist”, not to “live”.
They can decide if they want to work hard or not, the shame is we can’t decide not to support them when they choose to take the handout, the Government does it for us……..
I’m not saying there not are people out there that run into hard times that need help from society. Dust yourself off, get one with your life and go back to being a productive member of society, the people who are “lifers” are the ones that make my blood pressure go off the deep end.

I used to work for Fallon Ambulance part time and Blue Hills Ave was a main route we took to get to/from a lot of nursing homes and patients.
Every weekday in that area is like a Sunday afternoon. Every teenage girl is either pushing a baby stroller or pregnant (or both). People sitting around every where. Almost every porch or set of stairs has at least a couple people drinking from their paper bags.
Dorchester, Mattapan and the surrounding areas define the term "Welfare State." These are the people who are voting for Cadillac Deval in droves.

Pretty sad when an EMT in Boston has to wear a bullet proof vest to go to work and his work is saving people's lives, but has to wear a vest to possibly save his own.
A guy I had driving my plow truck this past winter was in Boston till he could get a job out of the city, he told me some good stories, one included his partner EMT getting stabbed.
Did you wear a vest ?

I didn't, but many of the old timers did. At the time, I believe Fallon would reimburse a % of a vest purchase but only for full time employees.
While in college I also worked medical 911 in Hartford/E. Hartford/Manchester for 2 years prior to that and been in close proximity to a number of shootings there. Dorchester is Disney World compared to some of those neighborhoods.
You're right though. For $12-17/hr, it's a damn shame how much unarmed EMTs are targeted by the neighborhood trash.

The welfare leeches are typically lazy good for nothing parasites.
There are those that are truly in need of assistance, but the system has been broken for decades, and the government (local and national) has no incentive to change the current policies because they are funding a population of voters that are pushing out the next generation of give-me kids to continue the tradition.
When there is no incentive to stop beingh a worthless POS, why would they ever want to stop? They also tend to be the first to complain whenever anyone wants to take away any of their freebies.
Funny that when they get practically EVERTHING free, these d-bags still want more and don't care who pays as long as they get their stuff free.
We need to end welfare once and for all, and get rig of the politicians that support it by any means neccesary!

Not sure the % but I do believe a large share of welfare ultimately goes to children and disabled people.

Yup, I know someone who is considered "disabled" due to depression. This person never held a job, ever. Finally found a doctor to agree and now they get a government check. Seriously. So when you say disabled, remember that it is a VERY loose term and just because some may be "disabled" doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't work.

as he said basically the same thing in the very next sentence........
I think his point is to stop the cycle of giving out freebies to those lazy voters who could be able to put some effort into finding a job instead of s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g on the government teet. Afterall, those wasted dollars could go to do some good like fix the countries' infrastructure that is falling apart or reduce the national debt etc.

I'd be curious how many of those children have 3-5 siblings and a parent that refuses to work. There is a massive career-welfare generation being bred and trained in this country.
With regards to the disabled, here's a list of just *some* of why my fiancee (a primary care PA) has encountered in the last few weeks:
- "Can you sign this paper that says I have bad anxiety and don't have to go to work?"
- "I need you to sign this paper that says I have depression and can't pay my bills" - From a person with a $10,000+ electrical bill. Apparently, MA lets you get out of them with a doctor's note.
- an early 20-something that receives a check twice a month because they have anxiety. This person will never contribute to society.
- Almost every week she has at least one or two people that need their "I'm disabled because I'm sad" letters signed so that they can stay on SSI or Medicaid.
The above is merely the tip of the iceberg of the garbage she sees. She regularly has patients in their 20s that are on "disability" due to some bs excuse like depression, anxiety, even ADD. It disgusts me every day.
And the above is only one practitioner out of thousands and thousands.... just thinking about it depresses me. (Oh, maybe I can get on welfare because of it.)

Duh!
But what % of those on welfare are TRULY in need, and not just sponging off the system?
How many of those "children" are the spawn of the founding members of the "welfare for life" club, where your kids are grandfathered into the system, as are their kids, and their kid's kids and so on and so on.....!!!!
How many of these kids are the unfortunate beneficiaries of poverty living conditions because mom and/or dad can't sat straight and sober to keep any job, but can see straight enough to cash a check and spend it on themselves.
If I had to throw out a number, I'd guess somewhere around 80% of the current welfare roster is riddled with fraudulent claims and abused assistance.
Exactly how should I feel when you see a "gimmee-girl" pulling out an EBT card or food stamps in the grocery line while sporting expensive clothes and jewelry? Or how about when they climb into their Escalade or Mercedes?
Once again, we need to abolish welfare and assist those that TRULY need the help, and tell the rest to go to hell!

Parts of Brockton EMTs do the same, parts of New Bedford EMTs do the same.
NYFD EMTs sometimes carry vests.
Must be Duval's fault.

It's the animals that live in these places fault and a government that enables it. What enables them to do it and what are we going to do to stop it?
Giving out a welfare check isn't going to help stop it. Educating them won't help stop it.
Making them accountable for their own lives and actions might...............
Pussification of America where everyone is so delicate about everything has led to this. Our culture has allowed it and it’s disgraceful. We have animals living amongst us.

"we"?
You must have a frenchman in your pocket. Swing down around Brockton and tell them they're a bunch of enabled pussies. Let me know how that works out for you.
Oh right! You're going to vote, and nothing is going to change. Yay!
You want real pussification?
Pissing and moaning on the internet and expecting someone else to fix it for you.

Ha, ha , ha likwid,
You are the type of guy that makes me laugh. I'd like to meet you someday likwid. No pussification here. I don’t “hide” behind my computer.
I absolutely have 100% no problem telling someone perfectly capable of getting a job to get one. In a previous post I said I know someone who gets a check for “depression”. I’ve told them how I feel. What are they going to try and beat me up? Come on dude.
Not sure where you get running to Brockton and calling people pussies from?? I called them animals, not pussies.
By the way, far from complaining on the internet and expecting someone else to fix it. I actually call my congressman Keating , Cantwell and Sen. Brown. It’s useless to call Kerry anymore.
Sounds like you are happy with the way things are these days. If you aren’t, what is your solution? Bring something to the table likwid instead of trying to post your typical cute, no substance responses.

I know someone who's suffers from epic depression caused by years of sexual abuse as a child, so bad in fact it took over two decades to find a doctor who could diagnose it.
I guess they should just pull themselves up by their boot straps right?

Sad that person has to live with that every day. Hopefully the person responsible was held accountable.
Do they have a job or are they on Government assistance?
Isn't one of the best ways to combat depression to be active (like work)? Obviously we see things differently but it seems like a whole lot of people are using excuses not to work and be carried by everyone else. Lots of things can cause depression, does that make it a reason to not be self-sufficient? Not sure it does but I guess there are some unique cases.
PS. The person I know is LAZY believe me.

No they should get a free phone, housing, food, health insurance and an EBT card so they can buy drugs, booze and lottery tickets.
That should make at least you feel better.
And no I'm not heartless just matching your extremes

First of all, ease up on Brockton or deal with the wrath of Tagger. Ted,you should be ashamed of yourself, what is the difference between NB and Brockton besides a harbor.Jeff or Goeff, sometimes I read what you type and hope you enjoy playing devils advocate but fear you may actually be serious. At least the feces you distribute is worded in a way that implies credibility. This is a standard Ted will seemingly never acheive. Carry on jesters...
