Surprise guest

We went out on Sunday again for tuna and had a surprise guest. We had an extra guy on board to help us out and we needed him. The weather was not what we expected, with soaking rain and 2-4'waves.
We tried something new for me, using live pogies. Watching the balloons dancing around was interesting and before we knew it we were tight!! It made a run for the boat twice, once it saw the boat it started dumping the Penn 80. I was impressed with the power of this fish! Once it settled down, Todd and Jason moved the rod to Battle Stations on the bow. It didn't take Jason long to get color, at first he said it was big!!! Then he turned and said it was a blue shark. It was approx 10' long est. 400lbs.

I can understand now why people target sharks, pure power!

Sorry no pics or video....

We used to go for Blue Sharks a lot in the 90's. There were days we caught 15-20 in an outing. Absolutely awesome!! Even better when there was a Mako in the mix.

If you saw and retrieved a 2nd $6 tuna hook, please give it back to RR...thanks.

There was video posted to verify (maybe on FB)?

Don't you carry a dehooker on board for use on sharks?

Sharkin is great fun. 10' blue dog isnt near 400. Dehookers are a must if you are going sharking. If you get revved up for blue dogs wait until you encounter Mr. Mako. Glad you guys got tight to something.

Dehookers are useless if you can't get the shark within reach. Which is usually the case with Tuna hooks and fluro

Exactly.

I would have taken the blue dog Sunday just to wake me up. That was gross out there.

I came back into Green Harbor from Peaked Hill just before 1PM to catch the Pats and dry out. The middle of the bay was not pleasant........

Anyone looking for sharks they are destroying everything east of the bank in 375' The pollack fishermen are down to single hook, bait hook rigs, and lead sinkers. because the sharks are grabbing just about every jig and hooked fish on the way up.

I'd love to sneak in one more shark trip. Odm - if you want to have some real fun, try catching them on spinning setups

The power of an 8-10-12 blue dog doesn't ever come close to a bluefin !
Bluedogs are big stupid animals.
Had about a 7-8 fter take my bait today.
Brought the fish to the boat it had 5 maybe 6 prior hooks in it's mouth, each with about a ft of leader.
I got my $5.00 hook back though

LETS GO BRANDON
