Too many people complain they want their privacy. We are living in a world where we need to let our govt do what they need to do to protect our lives and have our privacy be 2nd in line. I'd rather be alive and spied on than dead and private. Not saying it would have helped any here by any means. This whole thing is a horrible chit show

It's a new world, not the one I grew up in and certainly not that of the previous generation. IMHO if the founding fathers new what was to come we'd have the instructions on how to change. We need to give up a little,,,, guns for one
I'm pissed off, Gup

One of those Founding Fathers Guppy claims would have provided "the instructions on how to change" once said: "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
When people start saying "yes, please take my rights if doing so will provide me the illusion of being safe", the people that commit these acts of terror have won. During Katrina, most civil rights were stripped away. Illegal state-sanctioned confiscation of weapons took place and then the only people left with their weapons (law enforcement) were also the ones killing innocent people on bridges and in their homes.

Hey did you hear? A bunch of people were killed and even more injured yesterday.
A little kid ran out to hug his dad and when he ran back he was blown up.
What I'm trying to say is, STFU.

Agreed. Politics and rhetoric should be set aside for at least 48 hours post incident. All this bull#^&#^&#^&#^& gun drama accomplishes nothing but creating more hard feelings.
Lets keep it where it belongs......the scuppers or political forum.

While I agree with you that the bs has no place here I am amused you selectively picked JDs post ( the only one that was well thought out ) to take your stand. Maybe you need to STFU

I was home working on my boat... fiberglassing the foredeck, enjoying the day and the red sox victory when the news came accross sports radio...having run that particular marathon 5 times ... I was thinking what can I do to help those that were experiencing such joy one minute and such horror the next...my only thought was to give blood.. something I do regualry anyway... I encorage others that want to help in some small way to do the same.... the blood you donate just might save a life...

Red Cross is taking donations, there's a huge network on reddit and twitter of people offering rides/airline miles to folks to get home, etc. etc.
A couple local joints are donating proceeds to Red Cross.

LW - wouldnt most people have tickets to get home already? How did this tradgey affect travel? I didnt think this was that widespread of an event where we had need for supplies (other than blood)? Im not being an ass, just dont understand from a logistics standoint. This wasnt an earthquake or a tornado. What supplies are needed>

Folks who lost their stuff/ended up in the hospital and missed their flight/etc. etc.
Airlines are waiving reschedule fees thankfully so hopefully those that got stuck/missed flights for one reason or another are getting hooked up.

Might not Have anything to do with getting home....150 injured...they may be staying here awhile in hospitals, might want to help families come out here to stay with their injured relatives.
People just want to help, anyway they think they can....giving miles to help somebody come out makes them feel good...nice article in the paper today about people offering up their homes for people to stay if they need to.....probably not to many will take them up on it...still makes people feel good that they offered....
