Christian-
Mike has everything you need (rod reel line terminal tackle and...the boat), just bring warm clothes and dramamine and food/beverage. Cooler too for the fish.

Can't see anything in between "is" and "allowed." Stupid work connection.

o ya thatll rock for cod, youll love that rod and that reel. i havent used superbraids but ive heard how much better they are than regular dacron. i got the same setup as you. you might want to cut some off the tip of that rod in the future if you want to do alot more jigging. its still works for bait after you cut it, but its really nice for jiggin cut down.
thanks the sacraficed storm jig, might help some.

i have been told by a couple of guys that the 4/0's are not superbraid "friendly". something about there being too much of a gap between the spool and the side of the reel. i guess the line is prone to getting stuck in there. no personal experience with it though, as my 4/0 has been sitting on the "reel shelf" for over a year now.

Thanks for the help.
Christian, FWW is contacting Cpt. Mike to see if there is a possibility of another spot. My dad already gave me the OK. So if it turns out well, I'll get the chance to meet you Saturday....
im not putting my hopes up though, Capt. Mike has to approve and the weather has to work out.....

The weather gods will prevail! Vic, I have the same setup and the tip is too soft. Have your tackle shop cut it down to the guide after the tip and put a roller tip on, maybe 15 bucks. Use 80 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid instead. Its a great mono line and has the diameter of 50#, its waterproof so it won't swell and Stretch so ya lose your bottom feel. Its the only setup I use for party boats. If your only going to fish on your boat go with the braid. It dosen't work on party boats cause if your fishing the Stern the Googan at the bow fishing clams with 5 oz will getcha every time

that roller tip helps alot? ill get an aftco one, since I hear alot about them. so your cut the tip top off and hsve them put the roller guide on, or cut the tip top and next guide off and put the roller tip on to make it a little shorter/stouter?
BTW, I tied 10 cod rigs with 2 dropper loops and Gami Octopus 5/0, barrell swivel and 3" PINK B2 SQUIDS for teasers. Do cod like these, and hwo do the rigs sound?
thanks for the help guys

thanks swede. ill get that tip on there soon.
but I think im gonna stick with 80# Cortland Spectron or PowerPro, since I had some bad experiences with the lighter Yo-Zuri hybrid, I think it had horrible memory.

It does have bad memory on a spinner, don't use it . 80# yz is GREAT on a 113 Cod reel. Trust me..Use 80 Hybrid..

ben, no pics since my camera is a piece of crap and i had a bit of an argument with it last week.....
Vic, i have had AWESOME results with the yo-zuri hybrid! i won't use any other mono now. i put 25# on my VS200, and run 30# on my abu 7000's in the surf. the stuff is the best mono i have ever used. wonder how long it will take for them to discontinue it.

yeah, for jigging. i was just saying that i have had great success with the hybrid. have not tried the smaller diameters. i will be spooling up my 4/0 with it for another rod i gotta build this winter.

yes, braid is better for jigging but sometimes you're not allowed to use it (some party boat skippers forbid it).
