After tusseling with more bluefish than I want to count, and a fair amount striped fiends all last week, in a land far, far to the south, , it's only been four days and I'm already going beserk.....so...........gotta give South County at least one more go either this week or early next week.....
Then, if the fish hold like they did two years ago (and think they might again, from what I saw last week), there is always another 300 mile one way trip for New Year's, though I already see the wife holding the cleaver and frying pan when I mention it.......
Hey, there's always smelt.....

Eben - that closed season was 2 years ago - there is no longer a closed season on bass. Not that I'd eat and plant bass - regardless of how much cleaner than Thames fish they are...

Wee Wee.....BTW, I see you came out of hiding.......
Oh and also BTW, that State you live in sucks.....seems they like to close TWO left hand lanes of 95 and back up traffic for ten-fifteen miles in the middle of the day, just so they can take two hours to put down 5 square inches of asphalt and some sand on a bridge joint......IN THE SHOULDER.......... ....errrrr..................

Oh.. well there ya go. Even If I could keep them I wouldn't. This morning I did a little kayak mission to my holdover hole and caught a bunch of schoolies with fin rot that was so bad one of them had no tail. I mean no tail nada...

John I'm hurt, a shot at the Rose I hold so dear, what do you mean dirty fish? Where else can you catch numbers of winter holdovers, while the aroma of burning plastic and the sound of police cars fill your senses? Just because those floating logs, might actually be floating logs, or that bloody rag, might actually be a bloody rag, is no reason to come down on the beautiful Thames. Why just last week I focused on a pair of bald eagles soring nearby, so if you learn to just not look too closely, the river will reward you.

Thanks for the welcome. For the record, Striperholic. 134 nights straight this year. Over 300 fish 10 to 35lbs. kept a few for the table. Still out there but the picking are very slim in RI right now. I feel that the big push is gone and I am fishing for a lone fish. No schoolies. Disturbing.

Agree - kept waiting for a big push to come thru but never came on strong... I fell those fish headed way outside with some coming in from porkchop and montauk... It should still have a pick of bigger fish strolling thru just few & far between unless you luck into a pod of decent fish...
Few schoolies is right

Oh I know the house well. Nice guy. I hear he is one of the original owers of Ocean State Job Lot. God Bless Him. He paid $1.2M for that house.
Anyway, been fishing the night tides every night since August. Out of work recovering from open heart surgery in June. Had lots of big fish in Sept and again in mid-Oct then it died. last good fish was 16 days ago. I found a small pod in the back of narrow River. 15 to 18lbs. That was Nov 3rd. Since then nothing and I have been throwing eels, live lining shad, ellskin plugs and swimmers.
