YOU'RE NOT COUNTERFITTING???
The Purple and the Schoolbus look EXACTLY like my "Big Don's". Don't ya' think? I know Don. Do you plan on giving him a cut on your knockoffs when you sell them at your friend's tackle shop?
The 3rd and 4th down on the left side look like bad "Lefty" imitations. Or maybe "BassWoods"... Close?
How much are you going to sell them for and where is your friend's shop?

Sorry, Christian...
in his first post he said, " I AM NOT TRYING TO CREATE A PROBLEM TO BE CONSTRUED WITH COUNTERFITTING!!!!!! I have the origionals and love the way they swim and catch fish!!!!!"
By his second post he said, "Thank you for the kind words these are for sale I am ramping up my production soon probably after the holidays. They can be purchased at my friends store here in pa."
Imitation is the best form of Flattery... but, Come On... Making a copy of someone's plug is cool. Selling multiple copies is not. It's like mass producing EXACT copies of the entire Habs line then selling them as his own.

Different lips = different action
different body shapes = different action
But the "Surfster style" lip and original body shape are the key differences.
Creek Chub also used the Surfster lips on several different Pikie bodies, a Husky Musky body and had a jointed Pikie version
Stephen, you make a nice looking "Surfster style" plug.
Keep up the good work

sfrances, I'm not trying to embarrass you. If Don is aware of the similarities between your plugs and his then there is no problem. You have to admit a lot of your plugs looked an awful lot like my Big Don's.

Dude, relax. If it's different, then it's different.
You wrote, "If you were smrt you would go get one of my plugs and see since you cannot apparently see differences from pictures!!!!!" I agree. The sizes, weights, finish etc... may be different. Send me one and I'll compare it. I have no idea where to purchase a sfrancis.

Geez...
OK, Yes, Don makes a good Bob Hahn imitation. He is probably the closest people could buy since Mr. Hahn stopped making them. Still, Don has had a few bad runs with his plugs. Plugs rolling over, etc...
So if I get your gist correctly, you are "copying" neither Bob nor Don but the Creek Chub original? Both you plugs and the Big Don will be sold next to each other? Also, If you are friendly with Don then you should be happy that someone questioned someone elses similar "for sale" plug. As I said above, if someone all of a sudden showed up with very similar plugs to those of JHabs, down to the color schemes, and then sold them as his own I would expect Mr. Habs to be a tad upset.
So, no plug will be sent my way?
Gee, I went a long way to try to "plug 'ho" this guy....

Whats all this about surfster lips now ?
Please elaborate so an idiot like me can understand.
btw, Big Don makes a plug that is pretty hard to beat quality wise. I own quite a few of them including a one of a kind surfster in candy apple red/purple sides that I will treasure forever. The attention to detail he puts into every single one is quite extraordinary. And they CATCH. Takes time to build that kind of reputation and following. I dont think Don will lose any sleep over this.
Good luck in you Plug building venture SFrances.

One more before I go...
sfrances, YOU, not me, came on this public site showing your wares to sell and asking for responses. I gave you one. So did others. Sorry, you may not have liked mine. (Hell, I know you didn't like it since I read the PM you sent me. ) But that's the way it goes. Good luck in your plug venture. Best wishes.
Tinman, the top plug in my Big Don picture (orange/black) was part of a special run (Sea Robin). Yep, they do catch...

Yes Big Don and my husbands plugs sell in the same store
and sfrancis is not the name of the plug...im am not going to start anything by posting any info on this forum....
my husband as well as many other lure makers have worked hard on creating a wooden lure...my husband is not "copying" anybody...he uses references and goes from there...
as some has said, "ya gotta start somewhere"...right?
I myself am an artist, i just didnt pick up a pencil on day and start making master pieces....i liked a certain style, and started out that way...my husband loves fishing..its his passion...and building plugs and tweaking them was in the makes before he started selling them...its something he loves to do...just like anybody else here.....who build....
alls i can say is...BOYS GO TO YOUR CORNERS!!!

Geez Arby, he came to a public site you havent posted to in over a year to get some feedback. And you completely ripped him and then do some really hard backpedaling and then tell Frances to chill?
I have both makers in surfster styles/sizes and they're nothing alike. Big Dons are an awesome plug, generally a little fatter all around in shape, and a staple in my bag.
SFrances hasnt even given the name of his plugs or where they can be bought. He seems like a plug builder showing some stuff with some like minded folks.
We should be theres some fresh air in here, sometimes its just status quo 'round these forums

I don't care who any of you plug builders are.....I think that everyone copies everyone else anyway....slice up the "wonderbread" any way you want, none of you guys invented these plug body styles, you simply took a basic design and made it your own! Don't agree???? Henry Ford invented the automobile...the other auto makers began making their own yet they were based on the original.....correct! I think you get my drift!! Chill out guys, this is supposed to be fun! Does this mean someone is going to yell at me if I start making plugs of my own and post their pictures???? Can't we all just......plug along!!!

Salty that was funny.... Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. It happens all the time in fly tyin someone adds some herl to the top of a design an slaps there name on it. it's still just buctail an feathers. It's good to see everyone is a plug builder/seller these days.I would like to see some competitive pricing.

OK - I've ben pretty busy and have not had the chance to follow up on this thread. What it does look like to me is free advertising, semi cleverly done free advertising. Sending PMs to people stating that you are not selling plugs but followed up with websites and phone numbers IS advertising and IS SPAM. And frankly, its not fair to the sponsors and people that help out here.
As for the plug, I think I saw these a couple months back in Rhody where several of us fishing a night tide with one fish watched as a first timer to this spot pulls a 20#er out using a blue one.
But this is still semi-spam. The thread title "new to lure making"? Come on - maybe new to mass production / Interent advertising.
I'm about ready to pull the whole plug on your thread pending your response.
