Specialist, my handle on SOL is KLE. Dopey story behind that name but anyhow, I'm in mass. quite a bit these days doing hatefulu wedding prep. The only good thing is that every hour of wedding prep stuff means extrta fishing time. I'm going up to the ditch for a last hurrah the weekend after this.

Maybe I will John, maybe I will. My most ingenious plan(to pat my own back ) was to give her a temporary engagement ring in July then wait till this weekend to get the real ice. Now I get to fish with strippers

John, this is good too. The reception place is on Beverly/Marblehead habba. We went by the place this weeken and I was immediatley on the beac scoping things out. From behind me I hear. "If you think for one G.D. minute that you're going to fish at the reception you're nuts"

Note to self: Put 2-piece rod and plug bag in limo trunk during
rehearsal dinner.

Great time for a wedding up there and it will be VERY difficult to keep the rod in the trunk... You may need to have another "batchelor party" up there after the rehersal dinner... My batchelor party was 4 days on the Vineyard a few years ago. Better than any bar type party ...

That time of year is when the big girls are up there - and you've seen what the shoreline looks like - amazing...

Even worse is I'm marrying a girl from the Midwest who thinks that the two weeks we're spending in the Vineyard after the wedding are gonna be spent antiquing and going out to dinner.

Ha! That'll teach her for stealing my freedom.

CSK I was thinking of heading to the Canal that weekend also. After last saturday I don't want to put the rod away. I will let you know for sure maybe C-ratt and I will cya down there. By the way if I am invited to the wedding I don't need dinner , just some eels and I will see you on the beach after the toast. , or maybe you might want to wait till after the cake, nevermind.

I got married June 3, 1999 on the platform of Marconi Station in Wellfleet overlooking the beach and beyond. A handfull of fish were busting close in. My wife told me to stop looking over there

Yo, SlipK and CSK aka KLE - I'm still kicking. Had a bad bout with Broncitis/mild pnumonia but I'm back in the saddle.

the fishing: well.... it picked up considerably this weekend but no LARGE. I don't quit till mid Nov anyway - so Nostrapowers predicts there's a pod of 30+ #ers to be had. Current changes don't seem to make a difference anymore or time of day/night. Just gotta be there.

Acres of breaking fish out in front of the herring run Sun am at sunup - all traveling EAST ! Yep, East - so the joint's still jumping. Fish came by in huge schools for well over an hour. We wacked them on jigs while the plug throwers got ziltch. Some guys never learn.

SlipK : heard about your seal trolling adventure. Man you is close - very close - to that forty +.

CSK : Marriage is a fine institution. I've got the best wife a fisherman could ask for. Never complains about the ridiculous amount of time I put in. It only cost me a trip to London last year. She renewed my passport recently so who knows what she's got in mind after November.

if you train here right from the start fishing wont be a problem as long as you on occasion do something she likes . On your MV trip go looking at antiquesduring the day and fish at night when shes asleep . " But honey youll be asleep anyhow " ! Dont sneak out that will kill any future trips to the suds . " why you sneaking out you have something to hide " .

Jim its a toss up my wife lets me fish anytime anywhere ( I just bought her a new coat ) . We always vaction where I can fish ( just got back from a week in the cape ) . Ive fished just about every weekend since April . And youve fished everyday since May . Not bad for two married guys huh ! Now that my wife is getting laid off from her job , I'll be able to get out during the week again .

JJ my anniverary is Sept 28 , married since 84 also is my oldest daughter's birthday !

jpowers...i'v noticed the past two weekends that the fish seem to be hitting more towards slack than during mid tide...

me and kle (csk, whoever ) saw a 5 second topwater blitz sunday east of you...guess where ...don't know what the predator was but the fish clearing the water looked like spike macs...

also ran into the seal again...seeing that thing porpoise out of the water 50 feet from you at 4 am will wake you up...needless to say i cut my drift short and got my jig outta the drink for a few minutes...

as far a training the wives...i was with my wife for 10 years before we got married...she knew i fished, knew i hunted, not a problem...put the damn ring on the finger...whole new ballgame... usually hafta resort to bribery...

My wife complains about fishing and hunting but still puts up with me! I just don't know what she is talking about? Just because hunting will start soon, then ice-fishing or cod fishing, then freshwater after ice-out, bass tournies, striper fishing then back to hunting I always make time for at least one weekend a year! BTW that bait in the canal looks to be sea herring! If they come in the large will follow!
