I was wondering what it was going to turn out like...they were here for more then a week, did both shore and boat trips and I know they had a lot of footage. I didn't seen monster fish caugh but I thought it was a good overview of the event and island and I really liked the interview with the guy and his wife that came from Rome (Italy) to fish it each year...***just for ALBIES!!!***
I hope the committee sees this fish as a significant part of the event now.

SquidKidsDad..there should be a repeat on the 14th at 6:00pm...your mileage may vary.

Rob,
There are 4 fish eligible to win the grand prizes- stripers, bluefish, bonito, and false albacore - in 2 categories, boat and shore. At the end there are 8 grand leaders who pick a key to open a lock. The 4 shore guys compete for the boat and the boat guys go for the truck. It's purely luck of the draw that the shore albie and boat bonito won the grand prizes this year.

A couple years ago the prize structure was changed to add a truck to the mix. Before that the boat was the only grand prize. Because it's assumed that boat guys have a boat and shore guys have a 4WD truck, the Derby committee decided to award the grand prizes to the opposite category. I think it makes sense, but a lot of people don't agree with it.

Ya really can't knock Racheal Ray all that much. I read that she's completely self taught, no culinary schooling and now she's got what, three different shows on Food Network? That's not too shabby.

You guys are cruel! come on, she's the girl next door type, 100% real and cute as a button imo. Have you seen the photo spread she did for FHM magazine. Yes I know, good lighting and make-up and all, but I still dig her. BTW, she recently got engaged to a rocker! I'd fish with her anytime.

nice pic and she is cute

But she is annoying, don't you think? The problem with a roll in the hay is, you have to listen to her before and after. Well at least before, after you could just leave.

She might not be coyote ugly, but coyote annoying might be a fitting description.

Keep lines wet and tight in the pacific
