The gas factor

Ok for me its at the point where You can now call me cheap! Many places I want to fish I simply wont go, the gas is crazy, is it now at a point where it has affected you? and are you staying closer to home? Cape trips will now be a luxery and a car pool effort to offset the gas..What does a night of fishing cost you?

So its no joke anymore, The gas prices have definatly keeped me closer to home and I have not left gansett yet! exept once to go to the cape. Even Block which I love is a big ticket item now, you need a full tank of gas $60 bucks A ferry ride with car $125 round trip eels $40 man its $200 bucks without making a cast!! Thankfully I am getting fish but it is possible I could do better by branching out however at the price now, I am not about to leave them to find them........

It has caused me to take less trips on my boat for sure.........

I don't really care about gas prices, I'm independently wealthy

It's entirely possible that I'm stretching the truth a wee bit

I'm still driving the truck as much as usual and fishing probably more than ever. But what I have done is borrow/stay at friends homes near the ocean and basically get to stay there for free instead of paying for hotels like I've done in the past. Either way, gas prices bite but I shouldn't complain too much, my Dad in Canada is paying $4.00 per gallon

While I will admit that gas is through the roof right now.....with the amount of money that I spend on plugs, lathes, drill presses.ect..ect....and the amount of fish that I have NOT caught....I would drive as far as I need to catch some fish.....but that's just me....I'm starting to doubt myself...don't think I could catch a decent fish no matter where I was fishing.

Ive cut down a wee bit... but my longest trip is usually only the canal... If I go anywhere else I am car/truckpooling, so it hasnt been that bad.
