I should show my wife this thread. She thinks I'm obsessed and fish too much.
Last year I did around 60 trips and that was a lot for me given life's responsibilities.
For you guys that are doing, say, 70 plus nights on the water, does your proximity to the water factor in to the number of trips you make?

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

for me it does. For parts of the year I might fish early am then head out for a couple of hours at last light in the same day. just because i'm close. later in the year its night fishing only and once I'm out I try to stay out and make the most of my time.

Yes. major factor.
Almost 1/2 mine are trips where I fish half-assed just to go, throw jigs at plan B, maybe live-line a shad, low-effort type stuff... mainly so I dont sit on my ass on the couch.
the other 1/2 are more hardcore. I'd cut the former 1/2 out if I lived further away... and probably trim the latter 1/2 down to the nights where I liked the tide/conditions....
My trip #'s are down from last year, maybe 75 or so this year... a few canyon runs, a few fluke trips, some blackfishing, my boat numbers are down too....

Not enough trips... Life's responsibilities do take priority - they also make it hard to "select" the right condition nights to fish so I find myself fishing more "less favorable" nights just to be able to get out and fish.

About the same here. Same circumstances!!
