i used to hate those signs that said... 200 or so miles to the next service area or whatever they say.. they make you panic stricken so i began carrying gas cans after that... saying for the peace of mind it was worth it...

Won't change fishing patterns. Just have to suck it up, hell, I drive one way to fish anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours anyway, at that point does it really matter? My kids love bread sandwiches...

The only effect it will have is extending my trips. What used to be a one day trip to the cape or RI will now be an overnighter. So its actually going to work out to more fishing. Im spending close to 150.00 a week in gas commuting to work and making a fishing trip. Less stops at cumby's and aunt carries, packing meals and bringing drinks. Economic stimulus check is going to a gas card, so much for the VS.

Take the car fishing instead of the truck and walk more. 30 mpg vs 18 mpg.

Cut out the eating out, buddy up like Bigfish says, and stop with all the weekly extras, scratch tickets and all that stuff. Walk into the store get your paper and coffee to go. Eat at home, make sandwiches to take fishing with you.
God Sandman, $4.20 a gallon. Maybe this will break by derby time. If it doesn't the same routine will occur on island. No extras, just the fishing mam, and nothing else.

I'll try harder to make each trip count.
Fish closer to home at the canal more this year.
I don't have the camper in Wellfleet anymore so I will be missing the beaches for sure. I'll still get out with my skiff this spring and summer too. I think the gas prices will affect my wife more than me.

i've been riding my bike 1/2 way to work and conserved on any unesecessary shopping. carpool fishing doesn't always work for me. especially during weekdays. basically try to cut back in other areas to allow for increased fishing.
