Eben - thanks again for starting another thread that has left all of us who read it dumber....
At this point, I read these posts for the humor, ahh but what the hell......
RE: No outsourcing - Last time I checked we lived in a global economy. Outsourcing is not a choice, its a fact of life, business can not survive on isolationism. Outlawing or whatever it is you suggest for outsourcing to be blunt is a cop-out. Be more competitive; banning outsourcing does nothing but eliminate competition. Are you afraid to compete or just lazy?
In regards to the comments about "think with your wallet and not your fear" or something like that..........
......1.5 million jobs created since August - unemployment is below the average of the 1970's, 80's and 90's. The massive job loss was the result of a market anomoly created by the tech market. How many people do you know sat around playing fooseball at work burning VC money at a record rate - prohibiting future investmetn in new technology and new job creation..... PRICELINE - perfect example - that worked well....
Oh and FYI - household wealth is near a record high.... You are right think with you wallet...
Finally, someone refered to the Imus clip from the other day.... Here it is....
IMUS: "Do you think there are any circumstances we should have gone to war in Iraq, any?" KERRY: "Not under the current circumstances, no. There are none that I see. I voted based on weapons of mass destruction. The President distorted that, and I've said that. I mean, look, I can't be clearer. But I think it was the right vote based on what Saddam Hussein had done, and I think it was the right thing to do to hold him accountable. I've said a hundred times, there was a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it. The president chose the wrong way. Can't be more direct than that."
SOMETIMES IT JUST A MATTER OF CHOOSING THE LESS OF TWO EVILS...... Unfortunately, a 4 star general that favors flat tax is not running......

that makes perfect sense. hes saying that Bush said we should go to war because saddam had WMDs.. Kerry voted to give bush the authority to go to war before bush went to the UN. After Bush went to the UN it became obvious that the intel was bogus and Bush then flip floped and said that Iraq was a player in 9/11.. the UN didnt buy that, so Bush said 'screw you' and went to war anyway... after this Kerry's thought process was the intel was bogus and we shouldnt go to war. he then voted agianst the funding for the war because it was not a loan and it was loaded with pork to go to haliburton... any intelegent person would have done the same thing.
We were lied to.

The outsourcing must stop.
There are jobs such as electrical and software engineering along with the medical field that are being displaced to countries like India.
I work for a defense company which has many military programs and the outsourcing is shrinking our pool of engineers which design and manufacture military equipment. Just go to the universaties and you will see mostly Asians, Mideast, Indians and fewer americans every year. Like you said Tatlebox we are getting dumber just keep outsourcing.

Your own man said it.....
"Benedict Arnold does not refer to somebody who in the normal course of business is going to go overseas and take jobs overseas. That happens. I support that. I understand that." ("Excerpts From An Interview With John Kerry, The Wall Street Journal, 5/3/04)
In regards to your comments about go to the universities... I think your misconception is that those foreign students you refer to are probably Indian Americans, Asian Americans, etc....
and what are we suppose to do, shut down the borders, no imports / no exports...

See this is why you robots crack me up... everything is black or white. You dont close the boarders, you impose tarriffs and insentives to make it not worth while to outsource.
Have you even heard of Tarrifs??? we've used tarrifs in the past and we can use them agian. do some research on Japanese motorcycles impact on Harley davidson, and the impact on harley after we imposed tarrifs on the jap bikes..
oh, heres what your man's dad said a while back about attacking Iraq durring desert storm.
"We should not march into Baghdad. To occupy Iraq would instantly shatter our coalition, turning the whole Arab world against us and make a broken tyrant into a latter-day Arab hero. Assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an unwinnable urban guerilla war, it could only plunge that part of the world into ever greater instability." - GeorgeH.W.%$%$%$%$%$ A World Transformed, 1998
also I recomend you stop reading my posts, i'd hate to see you get any dummer

Those students are at the universities with student visas.
I know because I've been there for 8 years.
The students achieve there master and PhD degrees then go back to their country which most likely sponsored these students. If there are any of these foreign students on this forum I must applaud you and say that most seem to be very studiest.

I went to RPI, where it was mostly foreign students. The reason is that they WANT to be there, to get an education - to get an engineering degree from a top school. American kids, don't have the same commitment. Most of us were busy getting drunk or trying to get laid. Thats the difference.
Nothing really political about that, hard to blame that on one particular administration or use the term "outsourcing".
My borther was there in 2001. He said that shortly after 9/11 quite a few of the middle eastern students just disappeared.

They may have not been allowed back in the country when they went home. They tightened up a lot of student visas after 9/11.
