I know this is an old thread but had to share.
Had my annual checkup with my cardio Doc today.
Had CBC done last week.
LDL down to 49
Triglycerides 13. Took me off the Tri Meds.
Down exactly 51# since I saw him one year ago.
Guess I'm gonna live awhile longer.

Headed down January 1st Chris. I'll ping you before we leave so we can check up on your daughter and at least take her to dinner.

I'm down a few pounds.
I asked this guy my age how he stays thin and he stated for years he just eats one meal a day and he actually used to own a bakery.
I looked it up just to make sure it would be safe to do and found out it is an actual diet called OMAD (One Meal A Day)
I started it a couple of weeks ago and it has't been too bad because I was doing intermittent fasting (16 hours without food).
Its supposed to trick the body into burning your stored fat.
I said I would try it for a month and see how it goes, I said that about drinking alcohol 35 years ago and have been alcohol free ever since.
I'll keep you posted on my progress
On the Golf thing, I have decided to resurrect my game (if I ever had one). I would love to go out with you guys once my swing gets to halfway respectable.

I finally went under the 200 pound mark and I am currently down to 184. On the BMI charts because I am 5'9" they say I need to be 165 not to be considered overweight so I still have 20 pounds to go.
I started following Dr. Berg on YouTube who talks about the science of the body and food intake which was amazingly educational to me. I never knew how IMPORTANT it is not to have a fatty liver and I was unaware of all the freaking bad chemicals I was putting into my body (where the heck is the FDA). He says it's not about losing weight to get healthy, it's about getting healthy to lose weight. I was doing the intermittent fasting but really didn't start to lose weight until I also combined healthy Keto cutting out the sugars/carbs to less than 30 grams a day.
Gonna start high intensity interval training to lose this last 20, I'll keep you posted. Check out Dr. Berg on YouTube, just sharing because it helped me, wishing you guys the best and stay safe out there.

My diet after this winter was no IPA’s, bud light and a glass of wine, between that and getting back on the golf course walking three times a week, I went from 205 to 178.

I broke 200 from 212 …. Not a lot but getting there ..
Tough time of year not to eat bad stuff…
Trying for 3 days a week at the gym are helping ….
Being boatless for close to 2 months didn’t help much… more time to eat…
Thanks for the Dr Berg thingy, I’ll take a look..

That's awesome for both you guys!
Hey, all we can do is keep trying.
Really trying to make this a change of life instead of a diet.
You are right though it is tough this time of year, at first I though I could have cheat days but it throws you out of ketosis, so you not only gain a couple of pounds but it can take up to a week of dieting before you start burning fat again, totally sucks.

I switched Doctors earlier this year. I knew I could shed a few pounds but working two full-time jobs and being active at both jobs I felt I was fine. I went through the pre visit with the nurse (weight, vital signs and such) and she said the Dr. will be right in. Moments later the door opens, in he walks typing on a laptop in his other arm....with out missing a beat, glances up at me and says....we're going to loose some weight this year, right? Holy chit Doc.....don't hold back! I was expecting a "Hi I'm Dr. campbell, pleased to meet you". I'm a new patient, never met before. Anyway we put a plan together and in just under 5 months I went from 232 to 203 so far. He wants to see me at 190.
It can be tough to change the way we eat, especially when we have bad eating habits. I really didn't want to give up certain things but it was worth it in the long run.

The bed-side manner of some of these doctors leave a lot to be desired.
I give them some slack if they are good at what they do.
Great job on the weight loss but it is hard.
When I think that I can never enjoy a nice pasta dinner in the North End that really sucks. I am hoping once I hit my goal weight I might be able to do that once every three months and keep an eye on it. I don't want to over do it though slipping into the dark side again like an addict. It's crazy how the body and mind can react to food and the chemicals they produce.

19 months WOW!
That is incredible - I don't think I could do it but like I said if I feel like I can't handle a splurge day every few months I will go there. I've worked too hard for this and I'm not yo yo-ing again. This is not a diet it's a change of life. Its funny, with the intermittent fasting I am not hungry and I am not craving bread nor sweets, I feel great and I just want to keep it going.
BTW I am an honorary Pisan - I went to high school at Christopher Columbus High School in the North End

Down to 171 pounds - another 10 pounds to go.
Trying to hit the gym 3 times per week, Aerobic and light dumbbells for about an hour
OMAD (One Meal A Day) with healthy Keto, under 20 grams of carbs a day. Save a lot of money eating just one meal a day too. It really wasn't that bad after doing intermittent fasting for a while.
Any one else having any luck?

Holding steady around 177, stopped drinking the first and would have probably dropped another five, except I’m still drinking non alcoholic beer to transition.

I have taken off 25 pounds of the 30-35 I put on during a three year recovery from knee replacement. My diet? Invisilign, clear aligners for your teeth! Seriously. Any time I want to eat or drink anything besides water or clear liquid, I have to take them out, and then brush teeth afterwards. So I guess you could say my laziness trumped my hunger urges. I see another ten coming off by spring.
