What a morning!

After a brief rain delay, or should I say deluge, I hit the road early and launched around 4:30. Headed to one of my favorite areas, no hints but this picture might just give it away .

Didn't friend Pete and I get into some nice fish this morning, he lost one that just might have been a fish of a lifetime. I've seen a lot of bowls or eruptions after you first stick a big one, but I've never seen one this big. It was like someone dropped a VW from 1000 feet up, man I wish it hadn't come unbuttoned after the first smokin run. I had the trolling motor on high just to keep up, or that fish would have easily spooled his Abu 6500.

Then shortly after I hit the bigger 21 lber in the picture below and since I couldn't revive her, I upgraded (yeah I know it's illegal) and sent the smaller fish I had just put in the livewell for diner back home. [img="http://www.rgsiroisco.com/bob18.jpg"] About ten minutes later I had one on that was much bigger and she took me under a lobster pot line. Man I wish I could have all the nice fish back I've lost the same way. So frustrating to see a nice fish 10 feet below the boat on the other side of the line attached to a pot 20 feet away. I tried giving her slack, tried forcing her under when I worked her close, but she finally came unglued.

Had 6 fish over 30 inch, two that were over 20 lbs and lots of chucks that were just under that 28 inch mark. The bigger fish came on eels we drifted behind the boat, but the rest hit the standard plastic offerings. I would have continued working the area, but didn't a F**king A-hole in big red center console come right in and anchor up on the flat I'd just drifted and hooked up on. I was so tempted to give him a piece of my mind, but people like that will be clueless until the day they die. Not like he didn't see me hook up and fight that fish while drifting off the spot either, because he took his time idling through shallow water to get there.

Looks like I've got my spot to work hard for next weekends tourney. John did you get my email , have room in the boat and will spend some serious time in that area. Hope everyone had a good one today. I was going to try to hook up with some of the SOL boys down on the cape, but just not in the cards.

I mi or minot know where you are fishing but be glades you've got good spots... but you need to be real careful or you'll be chasing the dogfish instead of the basses, hehehe...

BTW - I did not receive your e-mail at home or at work, resend it pleaz... Sorry to hear about the unreviving but you tried and you reduce your impact on the fish as you CPR them whenever needed in the first place. No matter how hard the knowledgeable people try, some still can be lost.

Did I mention: resend your e-mail

Hey GS, that spot isn't too obvious. Glad to hear you were catching fish guys.

I met some of the SOL crew this weekend and Thurs night (fri am actually) I got into some better fish jigging black Smillin bills. While JPowers got a couple 20's next to me I pulled in my best canal bass to date - 40" 25 lbs. I released them all to be caught again , I had a couple 20 pounders and 15's and a few around 28". I tried again last night for a couple hours but got nothing. I did get to meet MikeP(the fishing encyclopedia himself) there. The canal gave up alot of fish this weekend.

If you need someone to fill a space in the fish raising craft sometime, I'm game. But get John out first since I already had a chance in Jan.

Hey Slipknot glad you did good at the Ditch. Wish I headed there but hit the Vinyard only getting some small bass. Loaded up on fluke, sea bass and scup for eatin'. Mike P. is an old friend from our Leper days and he actually was on Wheel of Fortune! What spots were producing? I was wondering if my predictions were acurate.

Hmmm Wheel of Fortune huh?

I didn't get anything at the stone church or pips but I found fish at the place the skaters put on their skates.. We didn't try chunking because we heard poor reports of chunking butgood reports of eelskins and jigging.
