Hello my Yankee friends :-)

Thought about you guys last night when I was watching "cops" and they were in and around Boston. Specifically Lynn where my grandfather used to take me and my brother head boat fishing every year. We caught nice codfish and another big pretty fish but the species escapes me at the minute.- Haddock thats it!!! Do the headboats still run and do they still catch ??? Anyhooz I am playing hooky from work today and surfing so I thought I would drop a post of on "Yall". - take care , craig

I was born and raised there.....Thats where I developed all of my bad habits.

My Grandfather used to have this old Double-ender that he used to fish off of all of the time. kept it down the VYC on the lynnway.

you could have thrown grenades at it all day and it would never sink it was so solid.

Dad -

Boy, I'd kill to have an old cod dory like that today. I suppose somebody somewhere makes 'em but they're probably 10K.

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

This boat must have been a 100 years old. My grandfather bought it from some guy down in new bedfah. He built a small cabin on it and dropped an old tractor engine in it w/ the prop on the drive shaft. One of my earliest memories about my grandfather was going w/ him, my dad and a couple of other guys to yank the engine out of a tractor up in rowley. He had it rigged up w/ some old bycycle gears and cable to steer the thing.

He had that thing up until the day he died.
