Squid

How long do you think before the squid start showing up in Vineyard Sound, I am guessing another 2-3 weeks?

Traditionally, the second week of May. Watch for the boats between Falmouth and the Vineyard and by the 15th head for Middleground and hold onto your hat!

Why even try.........

Last year I was watching a few squids boats around the end of
April. I could not get out to MG to snoop around the boat was in the shop until almost June
This year I am ready armed with some nice new squid flys that should be killer

I'm Curious....What kind of Lures and Flys do you use for Squid?

Do they hit Diamond Jigs, or something like a Yo-Zu-Ri Hydro metal or something even smaller?

I'll use the standard luminus squid jig... of a green shade... pissa at night and early am....

I've caught them on diamond, kastmasters, rebels/rapalas, grubs, gold beak hooks, hopkins, deadly #^&#^&#^&#^&s,ect....

It's easier to hook them with the multi SS needles found on the "squid jigs" then to try and get a tentacle tangled on a treble..

as far as the flies go.. thats news to me... i think they referring to throwing squid flies for bass....
i'll add a pic once my batteries charge...

Do squids show up in the Wing's Neck? I know the squids can be at the same spot where the baitfishs congreate in the season. I thouhgt that I would give a try catching some calamaris.
