OK - like I said in the PM, that is a forgery of my name. Just beacuse a name is listed as an e-mail doesn't mean that's the real e-mail. This is also why when you tried to reply it shows an invalid e-mail address. Because the e-mail address is not legitmate. I can send you an e-mail from my john@s-b account but change the way it sends and have it look like its coming from God. People take advantage of this naming change all the time...

Second, - PLEASE tell me you didn't open that file? the ".pif" will open something and it's likely very bad, like a virus or worm.

Absolutely vital you immediately update your anti-virus and run a full system scan. then download Adaware and run a search on that...

Let me know how it works out...

again, I NEVER send anything like that but my e-mail does get somewhat frequently forged.

Thanks!

John

John, if the source of this virus (not the person who programmed, the person spreading) ever tried to send an email to that address, teh virus would grab that and start sending that (and all other email address' in the sources address book)

Spybot too

I have been using Lavasoft's AdAware for some time and have been very pleased. I recently loaded and ran Spybot Search and Destroy. What an eye opener!!! It found a dozen spywares that AdAware missed.

It was suggested in a publication that one anti-spyware program is not enough. Boy! Were they right.

I suggest you all try using an additional anti spy ware program as well. It made a difference for me.

Take some air out of those tires.

Well, I was gonna send ya a nice bass to your email but uhhhh.... I think I'm gonna wait 'til you give your computer some antibiotics.

Lemme know -

heres another thing related

My wife is visiting her folks out in california ok, and thought i had gone underground because i didnt answer any of her emails.

plus: i have been getting tons of e-mail failure notices as well as false emails from "myself" ,from john @s-b from mikecc and everyone else in my e-mail address book (now deleted)and even from people not in my email address book that was taken from my email cache file.... (now also deleted)
where ever the hell that is... (was)

also the "typical kind with attachments" which are always .pif .scr
and exe. and audio files. Not having the latest virus software
i wrongly assumed my PC was infected so i just finished formatting my hardrive thinking this will stop all the bogus Email

Nope! its still coming...and its from charter.net's servers but they could just be relaying it from somewhere else. This is HUGE! My associate and i have been studying the code inside linux which it's not designed to infect and its coming from every single major ISP out there....and theres no end in sight. this is really BAD! BAD! BAD!.

Will do, Mrs. F - my wife's mom used to work a lot in charcoals and pencils, it's a difficult medium to do well - Habs son, John Jr does too, his stuff is great - he's only 21 but has lots of potential.

I'll get it to ya tonite or tomorrow - I got some kinda flu type thing going on, had to bag out of the office before lunch, lay down for a while - I'm losin' it here again, probably gonna hit the rack and give my old carcass a break (for once) -

Anyway, if not tonite, I'll post it tomorrow.

Angry because Mikecc

this freakin email VIRUS is so sophisticated that it took your email address out of my address book from an email i sent you probably from last year ok about my sunglasses and my email program (outlook express: auto adds anyone i send to) and then sends it to me as a spoof email trying to get me to open the attachment.
for example ..the one i got from john @S-B was titled "stolen document" and the one from you from cape cod tackle was titled
something like "our catalog" but they are all starting with RE:
making it look like i sent something to you and your replying.
I'm telling you this thing is so cleverly designed it'll be on the news very soon.... and it isnt going away anytime soon. So even if my ISP (charter.net) runs its virus software it doesnt matter because its instantly replaced by the next recipients email program on and on and on branching out to the west coast and back. Theres even spoof emails from symantec with the yellow page showing what looks legitimate 100% except the address will be like www.symantec,com.de indicating its from denmark and we traced it back to a computer at wimms university in virginia USA.
its so sick i truly want to kill the virus writer personally....slowly.

heres an example

JUST a screen capture! using paint shop pro ok (relax board)

NOTICE that when you right click a suspicious email and then hit properties and then message source you can scroll down and see whats attached without having opened it ... and here in this "illustration "you'll notice at red arrow that it says it was scanned for viruses by mcaffee which is all bull#^&#^&#^&#^& !!
thats how tricky this one is so beware of ALL attachments!

This is nuts, I'm getting 300+ per day, 200 on the john s-b account alone. Most of the spam gets rerouted automatically right to the roundfile as I use spamassasin on my server. I get 30 viruses per day on average but fortunately I have excellent protection, both via software and good practice (check virus defs daily). This takes up so much of my time daily that I lose a full days work per week between home and the job with these viruses. Makes me sick.

I'll be reformatting hard drives very soon too, probably after I finnish the server completion (delayed for reasons including this crap).

People NEED to stay current DAILY now with AV and Anti-Spam. It sucks, and it's unfortunate, but there are too many people that have their systems compromised right now

sinus infections

headache between your eyes ....sound familiar? the only way to be rid of it is with antibiotics like ampicillan so if you dont have some get some from a doctor and it'll kill that off in a day or two like magic!

cold foggy RAW weather can be responsible for getting that started.

just remember that when you consume antibiotics you kill off the good bacteria in your colon as well as the bad bacteria and then its a good idea to eat some active cultured yogurt to replenish the good intestinal flora again. garlic will acomplish the same thing without killing the good bacteria which is a major plus except you have to put up with garlic breath [ oder] unless its been pre removed and isnt a fresh clove.

I prefer Norton in only that I use their Coporate stuff and then have a good handle on the home variety.

Thank god I run FreeBSD+Mutt+Procmail with QMail+CLAMAV as my mailer daemon... man, let me tell ya, I seen the logs on my box, and man, it does get busier than a bee in a hive.

That's why I don't like using Outlook or any GUI mailer program, because some of them automatically execute what's in your mail, and it's a bad idea.
