Thumbs down Bozo trolling unbrella rig - Wed

I was out yesterday w/ a buddy and his buddy from out of town and we are out fishing Boston Harbor area. This bozo trolling an umbrella rig kept going inbetween another boat and us. We moved a few times and this IDIOT keeps trolling close to us.

I asked one of the guys in the boat WTF this jerk was and the captain tells me its " x ". I do a quick search and find the guys charter mentioned once on here.

There are about 4 boats total and this idiot has to troll his umbrella rig around us. There were just small blues and even smaller stripers around so I don't know why the guy running the charter just didn't let the people on the boat sight cast to the fish?!

I can't understand this mentality - u guys want to fill me in why some charter captains are suck JERKS. The ocean is a BIG place, but just because he has "paying" customers he gets to harass other fishermen?!

I know what charter I am NEVER going to use or recommend. Sorry for venting - just sort of PO'ed by this guys actions.

You think charter captains got some kind of dispensation from the usual jerk quota?

I don't know much about boats at all - let alone identify one brand from another. One of the guys on the boat told me who this person was. He was quite sure of who is was - guess he has seen him out there before.

I would expect a charter captain to have MORE sense and be a little more respectful of other boaters since they don't like to be treated that way. May be I can't expect every one to have common sense in their head. It wasn't like we were following him - He was following us!

I'm hoping this bozo is online and in HERE to read this! Oh, I guess I am assuming he can read, right?

So what your telling me is many fishing guys in boats are turkeys?! I like the guys who blow thru the middle of a school where there are several boats working the edges and happily sharing the fish. Some idiots can't tell gulls working on commorants and ducks verses fish?! Not every one in a boat is a yahoo are they?

Not all Charter Boat guys are bozo's but some of them think they have fishing rights over the rec fishing guys. I've had proplems with other charter guys... Some of us offer help, tips and gear to others at our docks and others who ask. The problem is we can do 25 good deeds and 1 person act's like that and gives us all a bad rap!

Its like anything else, you only notice things when they are negative. I'd bet most charter captains are fine, but there are a certain percentage who think they make a living that way, so they own the water. Kinda like when a construction crew is working on a house and they block a street for weeks.

Basically, "f" all you, this is how I make my living, so work around me. No, imo, you shouldn't block the road and screw up traffic, or you should be courteous on the water, or whatever.

I think I was out there that day (on the backside of thompson isl?). My dad and I took a couple small blues each.. I mean they were like 3-4lbs and we were crackin' on the guy in a 30' plus boat for trolling the umbrellas for tiny fish.

It is a valid strategy to fish low under blitzing blues or schoolies for bigger bass. They often work under the schools munching down scraps and injured fish to use less energy, but if its the same guy, he was just catching small blues.

I agree with MTC and makomike... every walk of life has its quota of jack@$$'s.

I'm out there every weekend, so I see these guys every weekend. And there's one light tackle, fly guide that consistently cuts in front of me when I'm working fish up top to get his "sports" hooked up. I've had my boat 3 seasons now, and he's done it to me a couple times each year. The rest of the guys seem pretty respectful. Like you, I'm not gonna burn him on the 'net, but I might plow a school on him next year if it comes up again.

I was fishing off of Peddocks a couple weeks ago and had the same occurance. Guy kept trolling right over our lines and even cut off one of my plugs. I had a few words for him making sure he heard and understood me. He was close enough to shake hands with (or punch in the kisser). The guy does it again the very next pass. I saw it coming and clipped on a 4oz jig (taking after BigFish) and launched it right at him. Hit his side curtain and got his attention. Flipped him off and he finally got the message. They weren't too pleased with me but I don't give a rat's a$$.

LMAO, BigBo - I was thinking about launching a piece of 3 oz metal at him at one point, but though that wouldn't be very nice.

If it was my boat I would have retalitated. No reason to get the owner of the boat I was on in trouble.

99% of the charter captains I know are great people! This A-hole, however, makes it his business to be a FK'n jerk. It would be interesting to see of its the same bozo.

I had charters come right in and drop their hooks right where I'm drifting through and fishing. I don't know enough of them to say, but I've seen enough on the water to know some of them are real smucks. It was a red hull by chance?

sent ya pm Fisherwoman & Got Striper.

Last time I was on a charter trolling an umbrella rig was about 25 yrs ago out in front RP in P-town.

I've had several people pm me asking if was "x" and so far its been some other bozo..... LOL.

Nope - not Charlie Moore ..... LMAO - I'm glad I don't have cable.

People will always continue to amaze me. I've met some awesome folks in my life , but at the same time I've had encounters with bozos. I figured that the Big Man will take care of the idiots and eventually they will get theirs.

I would like to own my own boat in the near future, but I would be lucky to get out once every couple of weeks so I figured it cost me less $ and aggrevation if I take charters periodically. The captains have their ears open & usually have many contacts sharing spots/information. Lots of work to maintain a boat - nothing is ever really THAT simple, is it?
