I knocked them dead tonight.

I know this belongs in the reports section but I figure what's the use? None of you guys fish my area so I might as well brag here.

Here is how it went down. Snagged the paper from my mom and checked the tides, I think it listed lowtide as something like 8:43. Not too good but I decided I should give it a go. I couldn't pull a late night because my parents have obligations. So I suit up and make my way down to the reef.

I'm looking for surface activity. There was a pretty good chop working and I can't tell if there are fish working or it's just white caps. So I'm making my way out casting a 4 inch crystal minnow. No hits. Then I see some fat alberts breaking and I switch over to a Krocodile. I hook up with a sea robin. Turns out they were all feeding on peanut bunker. So I switched over to a Gag's Mr. Bunker. Then I got slammed hard. I had no clue what the fish was. I finally get it in and it's a 4lb blue on the front hook and a 4 lb blue on the back hook. I released them both too. The tide started dropping so I switched to the krocodile again so I wouldn't get snagged up on the rocks with the Mr. Bunker. Slammed some more robins and some more blues. My last fish was a nice 8lb blue. Not a huge fish but it took drag and it put a nice bend in the 10 footer. Pretty big for the school though, probably one of the bigger ones.

I saw some albies for sure. Got a good glimpse of the back of a football shaped fish and it had broken jagged lines. I'm going back tomorrow to try and hook up with one of them but they are so few and far between. The odds are against me but ya never know.

I also talked to a guy out on the reef that said he was nailing albies up on the Cape or Vineyard, can't remember which. He said he was using a local lure called a "maria". Any of you know what that is and what's so special about it?

Great night of fishing.

See - if you go out, you can catch fish!!!

A "Mariah" is a slim tin about halfway between a Megabait jig and a Murderous Richard (Deadly #^&#^&#^&#^&). That's not a local lure - I thinks it acutally from Florida. You can and should bring any of those three, about 3/4 to 1.5 ounce, down with your lighter rod and try to get some of those dam Albies. They will also hit smaller needelfish on occasion but best overall bet is metal...

BM just curious do you bring a photographer with you, or do you hold your camera out away from you on a stick?

It's his sixth appendage holding the camera - you'll notice there is never a picture that shows his whole entire body ... How do think he can steal all those plugs at once??

I was gonna ask him the same thing. The only camera I have right now is a disposable with no flash. Not good for night fishing. I'm bringing it next weekend so I can use the rest of the photos up so I can get them developed.

Went again tonight. Left the house about 10:00 PM much to my parents chagrin. They said it was too cold and I'm crazy. I suited up and went to the reef. Not a good idea. The water was chilly, I was all alone at night and the tide was coming in. I made a few casts and went back to a more familiar spot, the marina. I plugged all the way back to the marina. I thought BM's skunk was following me but he got scared off by the marina lights.

Managed a snapper blue and a 25 inch bass on a 4 inch Tiger fire Crystal Minnow by Yo-Zuri. Not a spectacular night but I had a bend in the rod and that's good enough for me.
