S-B Four Leg Tourneys
OK - It's time now to setup dates for this year's Four Leg Tourneys - at least for the first half of the year.
Most of you know what the Four Leg Tourneys are but I will give a breif description here for those that don't or aren't sure.
The Four Leg Tourneys are part one of the SB Annual Tourneys with the other being the Year Long Tourney. At the 4 Leg, we have 2 meetings in RI and 2 in Mass, one each in spring/summer and one each at the end of Summer/Early Fall. The basics are that we meet at each "Leg" at the shop of one of our sponsors, take perfectly edible food and char it to beyond recognition, BS about fishing and other BS, and then head out fishing in the desginated waters. For the RI leg, all RI shoreline from Naps to L.C. plus we include CT west to the CT River and inland 3 miles. For Mass, we include from Westport, all thru the Cape, and up to Quincy, Mass.
All fish are to be caught and released, minimum size 36 inches, and must be witnesses, measured, and signed off by a fellow S-B member in good standing...
The top fish at the end of the year win prizes, anywhere from plugs to in some cases, a custom rod . There in no entry fee, just be a member in good standing and bring somethign to the cookout. Significant others are invited as well.
What I want to know - for both Mass (particularly the Cape) and RI - is what weeks do you think are the best fishing in June or July. Should we focus on the New Moons? Or a particular quarter?
Here are some tentative Saturdays around New Moons:
Rhody - June 4 Sat 7:43 PM - two nights before the New Moon
Mass - July 9 Sat 2:09 7.0 2:46 - three nights after the New Moon
Looking for dates and suggestions from people
Thanks!
John

hmmmmm
June 4 Ive gots to work at local park for National Trails Day
July 9 Ill be in Alaska
heres an idea , lets throw out the moon weekends and consentrate on the quaters . Here why . we never catch many fish during the get togethers and they usually fall into the new moon tides . Not that my opinion matters as I wont be able to make them anyway .

John:
Not sure when the Snug Harbor June Moon Madness Tournament is but it's in June around the new moon. Do you want 2 tournaments going at the same time?

John:
The June Moon Madness Tournament is both. I have fished it as a surf entrant and there are usually a ton of guys in that division.

If I'm not mistaken June 3,4,5 are the dates for the Cape leg of the Tri-State Tourney.

Rhody - June 4 Sat 7:43 PM - two nights before the New Moon
Mass - July 9 Sat 2:09 7.0 2:46 - three nights after the New
I agree with the above, the new moon time frame should be the best time to have this event.

OK - back to dates:
How about :
RI - Sat June 18
Cape - Sat July 2nd?
And is there interest in fielding a team for the RISSA tourney (which I can fish) - I couold not find the date on RISAA's site.
There is also the Plum Island Tourney which we have been invited to for May 28th and 29th - I can't fish that one but if a group of guys wanted to put a S-B team together ....

July second is part of the July 4th weekend. I think that;s a bad time for having something down the canal/cape area. Besides , lots of people take off or do family stuff the long weekends.

You mean the Spring MS or the fall MDA? The MS is first weekend of June, the 4-5 I think.

That would be because they're last years' dates.
